This was an experience i genuinely cannot describe. I played this while on a road trip and it felt like i had zoned out of reality completely till all of a sudden silence and I was back. This album is something you cannot describe only feel. I think that this is a rare one time experience that I dont think i’ll go back to anytime soon.
This is what I imagine Charli XCX sounds like to people who hate her. By the time this album finished I thought I got hit with the Men in Black neuralyzer because I could barely remember anything I just listened to. Do yourself a favor and listen to BRAT or anything from Dua Lipa instead.
My first time listening to Lupe Fiasco and I'm glad I did. I really enjoyed the production and lyricism on this album. The first track Samurai has an incredible beat and the story of a girl trying to become a hit singer with Lupe comparing her to a samurai. This album also scores bonus points for the song about Afro Samurai.
It's almost comical how Nas created one of the greatest, most important Hip Hop albums of all time and it was his DEBUT. This album is so witty, badass, and a wonderfully detailed showcase of New York and the East Coast Hip Hop collective. The verses on this thing are so infectious I find myself repeating them in my head over and over again until I finally give and replay the album again.
After several relistens I hate to say it but this album is decent but nothing incredible. The production is the highlight for me and I enjoyed the ethereal type feelings that's present from start to finish. My main issue is outside of the production a lot of what's on here just doesn't really stick with me. Yachty and James Blake's singing in particular feels flat and makes it difficult to really stay engaged with this album from start to finish.
Harder than Adamantine. This is the definitive Metal album of the 2000's and arguably one of the greatest metal albums of all time. What's eerie about this album is the fact it came out exactly a week before 9/11 and the eventually war in the middle east that would follow suite. An absolute classic and a must listen for anyone trying to get into Metal.
Been a while since I've listened to this album and it still hits just as hard over a decade later. This is such a dark, powerful, and by the end hopeful look at Kendrick's life growing up in Compton and how he's channeled the trauma and negative experiences he had growing up in his music to try and do better by himself, his family, and other youths growing up in a dangerous environment like he did. Sing About Me, I'm Dying of Thirst solidified this as a masterpiece for me. ... read more
This is a special kind of bad. It's like watching someone suddenly strip naked and start screaming at the top of their lungs while throwing poop at the walls of a Walmart. It's atrocious but you cant help but be fascinated by how or why someone would do this. People should appreciate this album as I don't think we'll ever get something so unbelievably bad for a very long time.
CRIMINALLY underrated. This is Radiohead's most politically charged album but one that highlights just how evil the world truly is when you pay attention to what's going on.
I have a lot of mixed feelings about this album. On one hand this was such a huge moment in Tyler's career as this record was the precursor to Tyler's best material in Flower Boy, IGOR, and Call Me If You Get Lost. But, on the other hand there's a handful of songs where the production is so rough it's almost unlistenable. Songs like CHERRY BOMB or KEEP DA O'S are good examples of this but, at the same time there's some pretty solid material that is worth coming ... read more
This album feels like a celebration of Tyler's success in the worlds of music, fashion, and events like Camp Flog Gnaw and im all for it.
It feels like all of Tyler's previous works were building up to this point. This is such a solidly constructed album with Tyler's best set of tracks up to that point in his discography.
This was a really fun listen from start to finish. Despite coming out less than a year after purple rain Prince delivers a solid record with hit after hit throughout.
Someone please inform Marvin Gaye of the current situation of things right now.
Been relistening to this album a bunch recently and damn is it incredible. I think it really speaks to how great Nirvana was that despite how good this album is, many critics and fans still argue Nevermind is better. For me its really difficult to pick between both albums but, for me I love how raw In Utero is compared Nevermind with songs like Scentless Apprentice or Radio Friendly Unit Shifter. More importantly however, In Utero is a disturbed, bone chilling look into where Kurt was mentally ... read more
The weakest album out of Metallica's legendary 5 album run but that's saying a lot. One is up there with some of my favorite Metallica songs of all time.
Has the same energy of watching Cartoon Network and playing GameCube and that's all you could really ask for with a record like this
Its ultra corny and some of the worst bars you'll ever hear in a rap album but it made me laugh a good amount and I think that counts for something
