Pretentious People: The Album™
(...and I am one of them)
I'd never want to listen through this whole thing ever again, but despite that remark, I do find the album very beautiful and a pleasant listen overall. It reminds me a lot of nature and true serenity, within either an aquatic or forest setting.
Edition 6 is such an oddly but absolutely beautiful piece of music, with piles and piles of emotion lurking behind only a small handful of string instruments. It's also extremely ... read more
Behold: my extremely amateur album that I, a clueless 15 year old, made entirely in Audacity, and mostly with my mum’s acoustic guitar and melodica. It also has a narrative that I kinda made up as I went along. Enjoy I guess
Huge thank you to everyone who decides to listen, and there is more coming soon ig :3

Congratulations Maddie (my bestie) for doing absolutely nothing! And somehow it still goes hard
Merry Christmas everyone!
And I thought I’d celebrate it on here by rating the classic soundtrack to the classic TV special A Charlie Brown Christmas, both often considered one of the best Christmas albums and one of the best Christmas specials. I never thought jazz could have a wintry feel to it, but here we are.
It’s probably the most Christmassy sounding music I’ve ever heard, and the music itself is just incredible too. Beautiful melodies, masterful piano playing from ... read more
What an incredible experience it is to hear some of his music from this era in a live setting. The faster and lower-key variation of Halfway to a Threeway is incredible, the rare B-side Little Island Walking's american primitivism feel could fit snugly into his album Bad Timing, and this album's version of Women of the World, just wow. I'd even say it's better than the original, in terms of the pure euphoria it gives. Overall these are some almost perfect variations of some of Jim's absolute ... read more
The upbeat songs are so very incredibly jolly that it's a little offputting, and the ballads are just snoooooooore......... yeah I need some better Christmas albums
Cold stone bricks ridden with pain, longing for the sun and wet from the rain...
...but far up here in the arctic circle, the light is gone and the night is eternal.
Danger lurks on the horizon.
This is an improvement from the debut EP on all fronts. Much better vocals, fantastic riffs, extremely raw and cold, and god it's brutal, especially with the relentless screaming and blasting drums. I did NOT expect such greatness from this.
Favourite track: Rhud

Context is crucial for this album. The story it tells is one of great pain and suffering, and once you know the details, it goes from an average dark ambient project to a heart-stabbing, realistic narrative of a trans woman's internal struggles. I recommend you read through the paragraphs found on the Bandcamp page for each song while you listen, as they provide the appropriate context of the haunting sounds you hear. It is a truly dark album, and I strongly recommend it, especially for anyone ... read more
Wow, what a comeback from one of the greatest Scottish artists after seven years of inactivity. Beautiful songwriting, very (maybe too) clean production, great lyrics and awesome meld of electronics and acoustics. AND he was daring enough to put a 36-minute drone / psych rock track at the end of a folktronica album. Big pat on the back for this wise man.
And holy shit. That last song. Just.... what the actual fuck. It goes from sounding like Natural Snow Buildings, to crazy psychedelic rock, ... read more

Here comes the sun, and I say...
It's alright.

So long, old friend. I'll miss you for the rest of my days.
When the Beatles played live in the mid-sixties, the severity of their immense popularity (AKA Beatlemania) got to a point so extreme, that they could not even hear themselves play anymore over the sheer volume of screaming girls in the crowd. So, they stopped touring, and began to spend almost all of their time as a band solely in the studio.
This was what let them focus their hidden musical skills much more, and allowed them to make an absolute masterpiece such as this, as well as the other ... read more
Technically the first band I ever saw live, as they opened for my favourite doom metal band Yob at my first ever attended gig. Some pretty fuckin awesome "post-black metal" (as the band themselves call it), which I have quite a connection with. Hope to see more music from these guys soon!
Favourite track: My Blindness, Your Burden

Four-song melodic metalcore EP that just happened to have none other than Sean fucking McLoughlin (AKA Jacksepticeye) playing drums, a couple of years before his YouTube career begun. It's uh, pretty cheeks, but I didn't really expect anything else lol
Sean's a really great drummer, I was pretty surprised by that, buuut the vocals are utter trash and the riffs are mid so that kinda outweighs it. Oh well
Favourite track: Neglect

This is it. Humanity has peaked.
A group of three people wearing rubber masks of political figures to give off the impression that the real politicians are shredding super hard in an instrumental prog band.
Donald Trump on guitar. Vladimir Putin on bass. Kim Jong-Un on drums. A true Nuclear Power Trio.
We salute you, faceless heroes. You are doing god's work.
Favourite track: Grab 'Em By the Pyongyang
Album cover: Literally the greatest cover of all fucking time
Holy hell, what kind of hellish experience did I just go through. I expected it to be good but I didn't think this would be BETTER than black box 😭 what a trip dude jesus christ
What an album. It's so abstract and extreme and HUGELY pushes the boundaries of what music "should be", but it's honestly better than the majority of other things I've heard. I'll definitely be returning to this, despite its massive length. Keiji Haino is a genius.

This album performed an autopsy on my brain

This album was created by many different people, but Jack MacKenzie was the one who stood out to me. This extremely early venture into the world of experimental tape music, with especially the last track having ensuing chaos similar to Frank Zappa & the Mothers' infamous "The Return of the Son of Monster Magnet", I just can't believe that a man who contributed to this beast of an album came from my boring old middle-of-nowhere hometown. This was seemingly the only music he ever ... read more
The cold water ripples against my waist... I bathe, half-submerged in the liquid frost.
I begin to, slowly, sink in...
The icy grey lake swallows up my form, and I float uncertainly, slowly sinking to the bottom.
The flowing ice invades my orifices. The sand caresses my back. The surface lights dance upon my face.
...May I ever resurface again?
Album cover: 8/10 i love this one
Okay those first two tracks were nice and swell and relaxing, but Anabasis. That song made me feel like I was being stalked. It made me feel like my death was right around the corner. It made the skin on the back of my neck crawl. It made me feel the constant need to check outside my window to see if anything was there.
Nothing has ever brought out such a deep fear from inside of me before.
Bravo. There are no more words to describe this.
