A unique, atmospheric project
A friend of mine had recommended me King Krule, an art pop artist from the Uniter Kingdom, as far as I knew at the time. When I was looking for an album from him to listen to, I decided on his debut album "6 Feet Beneath the Moon" due to the album cover catching my eye. I came in without knowing what to expect due to my unfamiliarity with the artist, but I'd say this was a pleasant experience.
Honestly, the only thing I really didn't like ... read more
wouldn't change anything about this song, genuinely perfectly made. really smooth beat, pretty emotional lyricism and delivery from muchi.
Jean Dawson - CHAOS NOW* / 2022
7/10
FAVORITE TRACK: THREE HEADS* - 9/10
LEAST FAVORITE TRACK: HUH* - 6/10
A really cute & fun album
CHAOS NOW* is an ambitious album that combines elements from pop-punk, alt rock and trap to present it's listeners with a pretty unique experience. This was my introduction to the artist Jean Dawson, a fun personality who always seems to push the boundaries of his music and have fun with new styles; at least that was the impression I got from listening ... read more
Meh
Sometimes, you have to be open minded and listen to projects that are "bad" to up your standards, and be able to appreciate good music; that's the way I see it. That was my intention with Mori Calliope's 'SINDRELLA'. Going into this project, I basically had no expectations due to the fact that I've heard the song 'soul food' prior to this, which was a very unpleasant experience. Mori Calliope is an online personality who is trying to make a ... read more
EXTRA SONGS ONLY
the new songs are definitely nice additions to the album; especially STILL IN THE PAINT, but the rest of the new tracks weren't really on the same pedestal as the rest of the original mixtape for me. i'm not that crazy about the more melodic tracks that were added and don't feel like they really work out well with the tracklist; but still, pretty cool
QUADECA - FROM ME TO YOU / 2021

FAVORITE TRACK: Sisyphus - 10/10
LEAST FAVORITE TRACK: Where'd You Go? - 3.8/10
NOT JUST AN ALBUM, AN EXPERIENCE
Quadeca is easily one of the most impressive artists to emerge from YouTube. The growth and maturity he has shown in his music throughout the years is deserving of praise. This album is a very important point in his career; as Quadeca drifts away from the cheesy, imitative style that he was known for, and goes on to create his very own ... read more
WHAT AN ALBUM
'Ultra 85' might be the most immersive album I've listened to all year. From the intriguing storyline to the great flows that Logic delivers, the amazing boom bap production and sample flips; everything is executed WAY too well.
This album presents it's listeners with a very interesting concept: two astronauts on a space mission after the world got destroyed due to countries' AI defensive systems accidentally deploying nukes. The captain plays ... read more
as much as i love westside gunn, i can't say this met my expectations.
when i listened to '11', I thought that it was practically a warm-up EP for what was about to come, and was excited for 'Still Praying'. but this album isn't the most exciting. even though the raps are solid, it is filled to the brim with bare-bones beats that feel very repetitive. as much as i love the gritty and luxurious vibe that westside gunn usually beings to the table, this album ... read more
its only an ep and all, but this just feels like a preview of whatevers ahead more than anything. the amount of content we got due to basically half of the EP being interludes is also kind of annoying. track 2 is really nice, besides that, it's just alright.
and people say THIS is a bad album?
i was always kind of hesitant to fully listen to cheery bomb, considering all the negative comments about it. but after chromakopia's release and the comparescents to cherry bomb it received, i thought it was time to give it a spin. i was definitely not disappointed.
thematically, this is pretty reminiscent of chromakopia; cherry bomb is an album that shows tyler's wild, unapologetic and aggressive side, and his mellow and soft self too. while the ... read more
although romy sings pretty well, she is outshined by the amazing vocal performance from sampha - such a strong and projecting voice, yet its so calming and soothing. besides that, this song is pretty linear and basic, not really something i'd revisit. definitely take a listen for sampha's vocals though.
the production on this album is consistently amazing, and the lyrical content is the icing on the cake. mach also delivers impressive flows and rhyme schemes throughout the album, showcasing his rapping ability. this is a really great album.
Teezo Touchdown has one of the most unique voices and vocal styles in the scene, so I was really excited going into this album. But honestly, "How Do You Sleep At Night?", Teezo's debut album, was very disappointing. This project consists of uninteresting instrumentals that don't try to differentiate themselves, lyrics that sound like they were written by a bored junior high school student, and it all sounds like it was ripped straight out of a Disney movie's ... read more
this was a pretty chaotic album.
bando stone and the new world is an album that delves into most of the styles that childish gambino has tried throughout his career, making this album a multi-genre journey. honestly, as good as this is, there's also negatives to it. the whole project feels very varied in quality and consistency. the tracklist doesn't really connect well, with the sudden genre and pace switches feeling pretty incoherent.
despite everything, though, bando stone is a ... read more
(DELUXE ONLY RATING)
two songs redone and turned into completely different songs - one of them being the single released earlier this year, "Satellite Business 2.0", and two brand new.
every single song is amazing. one not so much as the others, but not disappointing at all. the deluxe starts off with "Satellite Business 2.0", a song that builds itself up so perfectly, turning a small interlude to a spiritual journey. great little simz feature as well.
afterwards, ... read more
meh. i was expecting more. the beat is pretty fun and well-made, but i hope it was switched up a little after a while. the constant beeping kind of gets annoying. not a great hook, either. abel has a very boring performance. i like the different voices carti utilizes throughout the song. other than that, this collab didn't leave me satisfied.
tragically beautiful.
second song to ever make me tear up. how do you even describe this EP? its impossible to encapsulate the message and overall feelings that this EP presents you with a simple review. you just have to listen to it.
solace is not just a simple EP, it is what depression really is. just when you acknowledge that your situation and the actions you take based on it are destroying you, and you try to make a change, it just keeps sucking you back in and filling your insides with ... read more
really good production and rapping. pretty much what you would expect from common. his classic style of rapping and flows are present throughout the whole project. songs are great individually and every one of them brings you back to the 2000's, but this album gets pretty repetitive and dragged out due to every song having very similar sounds. this album doesn't push many boundaries, and that's okay; that was not the point of it, but it still brings it down a little.
a REALLY fun experience
i don't think anyone should be expecting an album like melt my eyez when going into KOTMS II. denzel's intention while making this album was to pay homage to his roots and entertain the fuck out of anyone who's listening to it. this album is 34 minutes of pure fun. none of the beats give you a second to get bored, and the rapping performances on this album are INSANE.
i also cannot stress how IMMERSIVE this album is. a third of this album's ... read more
