I’ve listened to this three times now and man I honestly just can’t like this. The weird mixing, the odd vocal delivery and the lyricism, idk man nothing is hitting for me here. surprisingly dense for something that feels so spacey, atmospheric, and light.
a slight portion of this album is pretty repetitive, boring and just underwhelming at points, but other than that, when the album dives deep into its experimentation, versatility and depth, it works. Although not as great as his previous album (even if this album works as a continuation), this still has some interesting ideas and great bops on it.
everything about this album is so intricate and beautiful, aaahh I just can’t get enough of it.
The one thing about jazz that has always turned me off is that when you’re not so much into it, most jazz can sound samey and start melting into eachother creating no way for you to notice the distinction between jazz artists. But as I listen to jazz more and more, I can finally hear the different sounds and ideas that certain artist have.
