Susanne Sundfør - Music for People in Trouble

When this album dropped, I was in a place of deep despair, as was much of the world. That year the entire musical community seemed focused on the political nightmare that was America and who could blame them for that? I myself was pretty terrified and it's not that I didn't appreciate all the music that came in response to the 2016 election but I think at the time my soul needed something else. And when I read the title of this album, I figured I had found what I was looking for.

In TND's brief YUNOReview of this LP, he said this album was like a Kate Bush or Joanna Newsom LP but without the eccentricities that make those artists exciting. I can resonate with this opinion but in my view, this album makes up for that in it's supreme beauty.

Many of the tracks are simple, focused almost entirely on the piano and Susanne's voice. There's nothing revolutionary here, Susanne Sundfor isn't reinventing the wheel. What makes this album special is that it recognized that in 2017 the world didn't need more gamechanging albums, it needed more beautiful ones.
