When I was 13 and I'd listen to this song I would cry from the intensity of it but now that I'm 18 and can relate to the song in its entirety I get actually cooked whenever it plays. Don't Speak perfectly captures the essence of what it feels like to be in that very specific emotionally complex scenario and not wanting them to tell you what you know they are going to say because you know its just going to make things hurt even more than they already do. What's so powerful ... read more
Bad Neighbor has undeniable flaws in its programming that even an avid music listener can pick up on but I really don't find it as big of a deterrent as my peers seem to. One brilliant thing about this album is the sequencing between tracks and how every song seems to connect really well, because of how purposeful and precise it is I can't help but feel like the mix was more of an aesthetic decision. I don't know a lot of front line producers who's favourite thing is mixing ... read more
The more and more I listen to City Pop this one always remains my favourite album no matter how much I explore. I always return to it and its just unbeatable for me I think. Adventure is seriously just a take your breathe away experience of emotions that make me want to cry even though I don't know an inch of Japanese. This might be a 10 for me but I don't know yet.
So much of that 2011 cloud rap aura on this track. The chorus is really great too and sounds breathless in Rocky’s delivery. Unfortunately though that J. Cole contribution is just egregious, the rhymes are giving me Grippy flashbacks and his delivery is too fast for the tempo. Too many syllables are trying to be crammed into too short of a frame, it just comes across like a comeback verse and as if he’s trying really hard to show people that he’s still a good rapper after all ... read more
Heavily overrated. The pre-chorus feels so out of place and the electric guitar tries to steal the show too much. Otherwise it’s such a banger.
A girl I was talking to recommended this album to me and I’m so glad I took the chance on it. WAAX is an Australian band from Brisbane and are a compelling indie Punk Rock group. On the surface they might look look like another brick in the wall but they really are quite standout. The lead singer Marie has really great abilities and sings in a mostly American accent but sometimes her Aussie accent slips out and it’s great. Im not really equipped to review this properly right now but ... read more
Rich in its gorgeousness and satisfying in its simplicity. Like always Ichiko Aoba, I am impressed.
Such a fun song. It’s a little bit LMFAO coded but in a good way. Danny had a great feature and I liked the way that his vocals were chopped up in the instrumental too.
Look guys, I think I’m mature and voiced enough to call myself a hip-hop connoisseur and for all the years I’ve sold on the genre I still haven’t completely been sold on MAVI yet. The man has a mature and reflective style which is one I can appreciate but he tends to use a delivery I find unenjoyable especially in his lane of Abstract. shadowbox is not the approach I thought MAVI would take and I actually enjoyed hearing him in a new light but things weren’t executed ... read more
I’m being completely serious but I will never be able to get through this without turning it off. A song has never made me so triggered that I want to kill myself before.
You’d think he’d be inspired because Lauren Hill went back on tour right? No lol.
One of the best gym songs of all time. I just wish the last two minutes were different somehow.
I loved this song the minute I first heard it. It’s one of the more unusual but playful metaphors in music all of this year and I’ve loved hearing it all over my FYP.
This record kicks ass it’s one hell of a debut and should get more praise in my opinion. Iron Maiden comes swinging out of the gate looking like the Pink Floyd of Metal with their long instrumental sections that have you on the edge of your seat and make this 37 minute experience extremely memorable.
I love the balance the songs have between soft and harshness that the band so perfectly used to bring an explosion to our ears when it mattered. My favourite example of this is on Remember ... read more
