Billie Eilish's debut LP is an intriguing listen. Definitely enjoyed it. Her dark, at times scary production coupled with her pillowy soft vocals & harmonies is an interesting juxtaposition that works well. Songs like "i love you" & "when the party's over" are sparse and slow moving yet never lose their way, engaging the listener for the duration. Though the album boasts highlights like the banging title track, the Police influenced "Talk Fast" and the eerily catchy "Valentine", "Youngblood" is ultimately a boring and indistinct album.

Alessia Cara's "The Pains of Growing" isn't an amazing album, but boasts several strong tracks. The album struggles to develop Cara's character, though acoustic track "A Little More" is full of personality. Tracks like "Nintendo Game" are too straightforward in their metaphors, and other songs ("All We Know") don't provide much production-wise. Listening to Julien Baker's "Turn Out The Lights" is not something to be taken lightly. You need to be prepared for the emotional content and the brutal honesty. Every song is heavy. It is a cathartic album, but the emotions conveyed in every song, whether they be sadness or anger, will be passed to you, and it will be draining.
