Låpsley is a master of the slow-burn. On cuts like "Sadness Is A Shade of Blue" & "My Love Was Like The Rain", quiet, minimalist pop slowly blossoms into pastel synths and skittering rhythms. Perhaps the most fun song on the record is the title track, which begins relatively ... read more

Taylor Swift's "Lover" is an unfulfilling follow up to 2017's "reputation". The highs are high: "Cruel Summer" is a quintessential example of Antonoffian pop perfection, "Soon You'll Get Better" is a raw plea to her mother that features beautiful vocals from the Dixie Chicks, and "Lover" contains some of her sharpest lyrics. Unfortunately, the good songs are outnumbered by the duds. "You Need To Calm Down" squanders its interesting ... read more
