The album suffers a little bit from uniformity. Every song feels like it's the same pace and sonic value.

A clean and crisp pop sound, human vulnerability, a touch of introspection and self-examination. A strong debut album that is very listenable, fairly danceable, and certainly worth your time if you enjoy good old pop music.

Essential tracks: Give A Little, The Knife, Light On, Fallingwater

For fans of Nathanson, this is a perfect Matt Nathanson album.

This is about as stripped down as a Florence + The Machine record can ever be. And it benefits from it. Making Welch's voice the centerpiece of every song is brilliant and the music is as emotional as everything previously, but relies less on flourish.

Essential tracks: Sky Full of Song, Hunger, South London Forever, Grace, The End Of Love

Look, LaMontagne is at his best with storytelling ballads and comfortable folk riffs. It's not that he can't range out, it's that he's not as good at it as he is at what other reviewers unkindly refer to as his shtick. In any event, this album has a few too many misses and not enough hits to make up for it.

Listen to: To The Sea, It's Always Been You, Such A Simple Thing
