After a 5 year wait, Slipknot returns in 2019 with their sixth album "We Are Not Your Kind" delivering some of the darkest, most sadistic shit they've made in years and it's great. Slipknot returns to the roots of their first two albums on this album, especially on tracks like Solway Firth, which show off how brutal Corey Taylor can be lyrically and tonally at times, with some of his darkest lyrics since Iowa; "Heh... I HAVEN'T SMILED IN YEARS", really doing a good job showing that even after they've toned themselves down with Vol 3 The Subliminal Verses, All Hope Is Gone, and The Gray Chapter, they still have it in them to dive deep into what I consider to be the darkest album the band has made since Iowa, and also in my personal opinion, the best since then too.
