It’s always confused me when people directly compare Olivia Rodrigo with Sabrina Carpenter, seeing as Olivia’s music is better on so many levels. 🌟
Olivia Rodrigo experimenting with synthpop on drop dead as a new direction is pretty darn cool and shows she’s willing to diversify her style as an artist. Sure, it’s unlikely we’re going to get any prog-house or nu-jazz from her anytime soon, but it’s nice to see variety in an age of artists going viral for ... read more
The PinkPantheress song is incredible. Love the production on this track as always.
Ice Spice's ability to single-handedly ruin any song she touches is actually quite impressive; kudos to her.
If you want to actually enjoy this song, go and listen to the original Ice-Spice-free version for pure PinkPantheress vibes. You'll thank yourself later. 😄
I really like this new direction they’re taking. It’s really fun to see them experimenting with new genres that aren’t just synthpop
Having listened to this a grand total of once – my initial thoughts were that my expectations were very much met. Stylistically, it sure does just sound like if Image was a Grimes song lol
Having said that, on first listen, it's kinda difficult to decide if it's any better or worse for that
To be candid, having tested this album out a little… I’m sure it’s as great as everyone is saying it is, but personally I find it difficult to get into music where all the lyrics do is swear every 0.2 seconds.
It’s kinda just awkward, lazy and makes the entire thing meaningless, it’d be like if Thom Yorke started writing Ummm and Ahhhh into songs every time he wasn’t sure what to put.
(Actually, sounds exactly like the kind of thing he’d do. Save ... read more
Actually pretty darn good
It's been a while since I was in an Owl City phase, having never listened to any of his albums back to back (other than Maybe I'm dreaming) but being pretty acquainted with Adam's discography. All Things Bright and Beautiful is a lot more solid than either of the scores might suggest.
It is a pretty front loaded album, but even so, the rest is very pleasant to listen to and I can't say it ever drags. I'm aware that his later albums do go ... read more
Actually kind of a banger, and fits the TV show so well
Really cool that they asked Mick Jagger to do this as well, given he was such a big fan of the book series
Fever dream is a bit of a journey of a song – it has bohemian rhapsody vibes in places (particularly at the end), where the song has different distinct sections, but still follows a consistent thread. It's also a banger.
Everything about this album is super unexpected. Sonically, it all just doesn't sound quite right in the best way... dare I say a little experimental in places? I've heard bits and pieces of her old stuff, and this sounds a mile ahead.
Also definitely agree with the sentiment surrounding FINNEAS' production skills. Taylor Swift, get this guy in the studio and you'll have a good chance at another folklore.
Also, dammit, THE GREATEST has no right to be this good

I'll be honest, even though I wasn't a fan of the original inertia, this was actually a massive improvement. That thing they did to his voice in the first chorus was... really weird though. I'd rate it higher if it weren't for that. But I really want to see an acoustic album from them now, I'm curious – this had lots of really quite great moments.
The worst Taylor Swift song. This was an ok song… and then Ice Spice opened her mouth
Miley Cyrus was a bizarre choice for this song – I don’t know if anyone was expecting anything else, but it just sounds like Psycho Killer… if it was a Miley Cyrus song.
It’s not bad for her standards (flowers was so much worse than this), but she didn’t exactly get much love from the cult following of Talking Heads. This was never a good idea.
I love Loss of Life as a concept and in its execution – it’s everything that we loved about Congratulations, packaged in a more down to earth, gritty format.
If we’re talking in terms of psychedelic music, Congratulations was one of those hazy but memorable dreams that you have, and Loss of Life is a lucid experience where you wake up with an existential crisis
Love the fact that the intro and outro imply that the album is recursive

Miley attempts to write a cheery pop song about “self-love”, and just like everyone else before her to do that, comes off as insufferably self-centred and toxic
Insufferable.
I’d sooner listen to the Black Eyed Peas latest album again than this lady’s attitude for another minute.
