The Twilight Sad - It Won/T Be Like This All the Time

Really dug this band when they dropped their debut, but hadn't really been captivated by much from them since. Their rise to prominence happened during a time when you couldn't walk out your front door without running into a band riffing 80's post-punk nostalgia, and they got lost in the wash like so many of their contemporaries. Seeing the scores, I was hoping this would strike the same chord that Fourteen Autumns did all those years ago. Unfortunately, it did not. I would say that only three songs managed to strike an emotion above indifference for me: the centerpiece, the closer, and the one where he keeps going, "Put me in the ground." The vocal performances are very emotional and convincing, but don't really save the record from middling status. I'm very certain you've heard a number of albums that sound just like this.
