I've never really been a fan of the type of music Slipknot plays. The nu metal style combined with Corey Taylor's vocal style definitely isn't for me. So it's kind of obvious that this album really doesn't interest me that much. I like some riffs, but overall nearly every song feels like it's the same thing. There's not enough melody or epic instrumentals for me. There's one huge exception to this, though. Snuff is actually a really good soft metal song which comes out of nowhere after nearly an hour of the same sounds. I like the melody there, and it honestly was done really well. It's a pity that the rest of the album is very mediocre. While songs like Psychosocial stick out from the rest, even those aren't anything too special. Similarly to The All-American Rejects debut, this isn't a very interesting album. It's performed very well, but overall, Snuff really adds a bit quality to this pile of generic nu metal songs.
