HMLTD - West of Eden

This album is fantastic. This sounds like Bauhaus, Depeche Mode, The Prodigy, Voltaire, and 80s Bowie had a horrible bastard child that came to make you dance and call you a twat. The West is Dead kicks off the record with throbbing techno that absolutely will not let up. Loaded thumps with gothic, grimy synths that churn and it has the vocals to match while it throbs along. By the time you get to Mikey's Song it is a wild mix of Bowie and Voltaire theatrics set to piano and funky bass lines and galloping drums snaps. This is a wild mix of ingredients that come out the other side smelling of roses instead of tripe like you may have expected. Nothing else out there quite sounds this wild and fun...maybe Kirin Callinan or The Drones by way of London but even that doesn't do it justice. This is a must listen, I will still be spinning this in December no questions asked.
