Biffy Clyro - A Celebration of Endings

So the disparity between the critics and users drew me to listen to this. Critics love it, the AOTY faithful seem to despise it. I fall somewhere in the middle I think...but leaning towards the users. This is pop rock produced to a pristine sheen, to it's detriment. There's a bit of an earworm here and there...but some of it is downright terrible. it is at it's best when it tries to rock out with jangly guitars and throbbing basslines pumping out poppy anthems that would feel at home in a Killers album. However, when the band lowers the tempo and hammers out a ballad, you end up with Space. Space is horrendous, it reeks of Ed Sheeran and bands I wish I had never been reminded of like Owl City or The Fray. This isn't a disaster, but I don't know who the audience is here. I left more confused than anything.
