A neurotic release from an unknown duo. Having heard this after their latest release, I can take this as the ground work, for the groundwork that will eventually lead up to a stellar LP. Nothing here quite excites me as I'd hoped and at times feels more minimal.

Probably one the spookiest records I heard from 2018. Smerz is an oddball of an album that is entirely pop yet utilizes glitch, dub, and witch house in the production. There's just something ominous about the album cover and the unexpected noise that emits from it. Mad at myself for missing this record before the end of 2018, but I'm glad I eventually came around to listening to it now.

Getting a lot of Danny Brown XXX vibes on this thing. I was never super involved with Tobacco's work and even less so with Aesop Rock's, but this album caught my attention out o pure curiosity and hot damn, this is an easy, early front runner for hip hop album of the year. It's an eclectic and wondrous journey of lyrical raps over some of the most infectious production from any hip hop record I have heard in so, so long.

It's dark, metallic, and in some ways vampiric. The minimal darkwave of techno give plenty of atmospheric bloops and bleeps. It's a little kooky and feels like it's attempting to be more than what it really is. The album kind of loses me and there's not enough variety to keep me engaged.

Off-kilter indie rock music with a hint of 70's soft rock influence. It's not an album that'll captivate you for very long and maybe no more than the first couple of tracks. It's a breathy voice that I think deserves a listen if you like early Bowie or Soft Machine textures, but again, not an album that'll stick with you for long.

A cloudy quality with static-y noise brushing up their sound this time around. It's brimming with that familiar, indie rock haze as well. It's what I believe to be their best project yet and a huge step above their 2017 record, which was just boring, and not like this one.

Another disappointment that came out of 2017. That said, Pills is one of the best tracks I've heard that year.

I can legit vibe with Lil B and appreciate the memes he produces. This album is just boring and not that good. The Based God can do better if he wanted to.

I recognize and respect his legacy, but this needs to stop.

It doesn't make me laugh. I'm constantly distracted by either the lyrics or the music in the background.

Ugly God had so much build up and by the time he joined the XXL and dropped this, I realized his music was just throwaway, goofy, and thrown together.

I thought I liked new Paramore, but I guess it was just a fluke. This isn't a bad album. Definitely one of their better ones, but I'm just not feeling it.

I can appreciate the effort, but her sound still needs polishing up.

Disappointment. So much hype and so much material. It was my birthday when they dropped 4 songs and even then I was somewhat underwhelmed by them. I noticed a lack of Damon Albarn's voice and you didn't see anything from the music videos that expanded the Gorillaz universe or broaden the band mates' personalities. It felt empty. Once the album dropped, that opaque feeling I had for the tracks were just as hollow as I thought. There is literally only one track without any noted features, and ... read more

Ewwwwww. I did not like this. I don't get the high ranking on the AOTY lists.

I was hoping for more quality but the twins instead stick with a playfulness. Surprisingly, it came off better than their previous album, for the most part, but at the same time I just take much of the material seriously.
