Open Mike Eagle - Brick Body Kids Still Daydream

For what felt like a long time I was in a slump when it came to entertainment, whether it be movies, shows, books, comics, music, whatever, I was struggling and pretty much just pushing myself through things. While I'm sure some of it can be attributed to my fluctuating mental health, I just genuinely think I just needed to change what I was watching, reading, listening to etc., so when I've been giving so many high scores lately, it's because I've just truly been finding great albums and just ... read more

This been a huge two weeks for annoying people (I'm annoying people)
Injury Reserve - Injury Reserve

Injury Reserve have pretty quickly become one of my favorite artists with their incredible dynamic between the three of them, with Ritchie's high energy and knack for great hooks, Groggs pure skill as an MC, and Parker Corey being one of the most underrated and interesting producers in the game. Bon Iver is one of my favorite artists, but I've just never loved the glitch/folktronica era of Justin Vernon than I have the first two records. I really appreciate all he's done for pushing music forward and experimenting and evolving his sound, which is a good thing for an artist to do, but that doesn't mean I like it as much. As for this record I say it's mostly on par with 22 A Million, if a little weaker. The songwriting is still good as ever, but for the experimental side of Bon Iver I ... read more

didn't suck actually lol
but seriously
do not ever read the youtube comments on a ldr song
i think im gonna vomit

In all seriousness, this wasn't as cringeworthy as I was anticipating. He vocal style works for me from time to time and other times not so much, like on the song National Anthem. The grandiose orchestral style is also hit or miss. I do enjoy most of the tracks on here but I feel like a lot of this record could just be tightened up a bit. I plan on checking out Ultraviolence and ... read more
