System of a Down - Mezmerize

In all fairness this was my favorite SOAD album two years ago. I couldn't get enough of it. However, jumping back into it I can kinda get the feeling they were ready for that hiatus of theirs. A bunch of really cool ideas are in the air and the end results are a mixed bag.

In my opinion the album is incredibly front loaded with some if their best material. Violent, dark, comical and somehow poignant. Well...with the exception of Cigaro. A love or hate track that's essentially 'Bounce' if it snorted a cocaine and viagra concoction from hell, but back on topic.

After 'Radio/Video' the rest of the album is honestly just okay. Nothing bad, but overall it does feel like a corny and bloated power ballad at times. While I think the subject matter in the second half is important to discuss...I'd be lying if I said I didn't feel like it was cliche'd and corny in it's delivery.
