There's a cordial air to Tigermilk that's still refreshing to the ears after my hundreds of listens. I find myself fleeing to this album when I'm in need of that homey and humble kind of feeling. There's nothing grand to these songs, but that's the best part. It's just one person's life and the people in it. I remember having a blanket draped over my shoulders, fifteen years old, listening to Expectations for the first time and being attentive to the narrative being presented. A young man's conversation with his friend and the supporting words he has for her.
"This is the kind of person I want to be." I remember thinking. Whether or not I've achieved that goal is beyond me, but nearly half a decade later I'm still influenced and connected to the hushed and leisurely words sung from a then church caretaker.
