It took me a few listens but I came to really enjoy this album. If it weren't for the language barrier I would have given it a higher score.

The jazzy instrumentation on here is pretty cool but both Solange's vocals and lyrical content are lackluster and boring. Probably the most dissapointing release so far this year.

It's ear candy. Very impressive production that keeps the album enjoyable, but nothing much outside of that is very unique or substantive. Still a decent album but it is definitely being overhyped by the critics so far.

The lyrics on here are brutally honest and Julia Jacklin does a good job of putting her own unique spin on a breakup while still making it relatable. Unfortunately this album is held back by both the instrumentation and the vocals. It's not that they're bad they just sound very similar to other singer-songwriter types.
