The thing I can commend this album for the most is that it was done in one 6 hour live recording session. That fact is immediately less impressive upon listening to the album and realizing that it's 6 hours of repeating string plucking.
I've tried to see what someone could like about this and all the reviews just parrot "it's beautiful" (it's really not) and it's long. Yup, it's really really long. I truly can not get into the headspace where this album is anything more than some of the most annoying music ever created.
Say what you want. Believe what you want. But I can't see this as anything but one of the laziest forms of "smart music" and a complete void of what I love about music. I really just hate albums like this or other examples of Good Morning Good Night. Not just because I dislike how they sound but because it comes across to me like it exists exclusively just so that it can say it deconstructed music. Rather than create beautiful classical compositions it instead decides to just try and do the least effort possible for the longest time possible. For "art" I guess.
Don't like that one bit no I do not.
Ok but seriously, great review. Based opinion in the chat
