One of the blandest albums I've heard this year. I mean there's some catchy parts on the singles but like I don't even remember a single part about any of the other tracks. Nothing interesting at all about this album and that's coming from an Oasis fan.

This is an incredible album. I think I might need some more time to give a thorough analysis of it but from what I heard on first listen I love it. The vocals are really interesting and remind me of the Pixies & Talking Heads at times just with more aspects of midwest emo. So I just realized that I have never reviewed Illmatic. I've always been a huge fan of this album, it's a masterpiece of boom bap production and amazing flows by Nas. As I might have mentioned before, I'm much more of a fan of more hardcore hip hop but I also really like the conscious hip hop when it's done right and Nas practically perfects the genre here.
I really do appreciate these guys for doing what they want and making music that isn't for everyone. But, it's just not for me. The vocals aren't that interesting and it's a huge cluster of ideas that don't mesh at all. There's a uniqueness to it that I can at least respect but it doesn't make me like it in any way sadly.
A lot of the discussion surrounding this album seems to be whether this is really that great with people saying it's not as impressive or as interesting as others say it is. I'm sort of in the middle but I definitely don't think its overrated or anything. I think this album sounds fantastic, that's what really stands out to me. So, the Foo Fighters are a band I've never reviewed an album of but I'm very familiar with them. Taylor Hawkins was one of the best drummers ever and it tortures my soul to know that Dave Grohl has had to go through something like this again with Kurt Cobain before but also now with Taylor dying. Not only that but Dave's mother Virginia also recently died and I know him and her were very close.
