This might be one of the best produced rock albums ever. Each track sounds so fresh I didn't even know this album came out 25 years ago.
This sounds like if Rick Ross' verse on Devil in a New Dress were a whole album
This album is full of great ideas and great performances, but its lack of polish and rough pacing towards the middle holds it back. Like the last album, it's the same genius from Born to Run, just in a very dense and raw form.
Props to the Police for going in a more sonically ambitious direction with this one, even though the execution of this more futuristic sound is greatly improved upon on the next 2 albums.
I'm sure that anyone living in 1973 would definitely recognize that Bruce had great potential after hearing this. But for the modern-day listener, this is a very raw, not-so-polished, and dense version of what we would eventually see from him.
Amazing, expansive, groovy, and ambitious as always. A great summer album.
This album sounds like hellmans mayo. Between the glossy production, the one-trick-pony vocals, and the cookie cutter songwriting, this album feels much blander than everyone says.
A lot of really forgettable fodder surrounds the title track and the 2 singles.
MOST of this album is a masterclass in simple, yet effective songwriting that stands the test of time and a showcase of 3 great musicians and their chemistry.
And then there's Be My Girl - Sally.
This is NOT what you want to be listening to while reading about John Wayne Gacy.
The sound of this record really resonated with me. I feel like with most indie dreamy bedroom pop it's easy for it to get boring after a while, but this record is danceable enough and sonically interesting enough to keep my attention through the whole thing.
This album only locked in for the last 4 songs. I understand that it isn't supposed to be accessible, but I've heard other albums with this same ethos that have much better execution
