On Apple A.G. Cook ultimately shows that no matter how “experimental” and chaotic the production may be, if the songwriting and vocal performances aren’t of a high enough quality - the album may still fall flat.
As a vocalist A.G. relies heavily on autotune, which fits the aesthetics of PC music and this album, however the vocal performances feel bland and uninspired and the autotune makes them blend into the album and just feel like layered noise. Instead of being ... read more

Smile is just cardboard pop music...
I listened to this first on discord rhythm vc bot and the audio glitches and low quality actually made the album sound better.
I think Katy was going for her “intimate pop music” masterpiece moment but it’s just a mess of pop cliches, boring beats and lacklustre vocal performances sadly. It also wasn’t really memorable like her older music was, but if she had went in the vein of Never Really Over then perhaps the album would’ve ... read more

Yeah this is by far one of their worst songs. Ice cream feels like it has barely any structure, impact or purpose. The chorus barely felt like a chorus. The tacky beat they used for the whole song got annoying really quickly too. Also... Selena did nothing interesting on this song - they could’ve given her “rap” lines to Jennie (the actual main rapper) and then given Jennie’s vocal lines to Rosé and Jisoo (Main and Lead vocals but got the least line).
The song got ... read more

Dreamcatcher’s last release was one of their best title tracks that accompanied their album Dystopia which showed them taking on an array of genres from rock to electronic. Lose Myself feels like a return to Dreamcatcher’s EPs from before Dystopia.
Boca as a title track feels slightly short but there’s some great moments. The rapline really went hard, and the bridge was really powerful. The chorus and prechorus felt slightly empty compared to scream but not enough to throw the ... read more

Itzy’s last comeback ITZ ME came with the huge hit WANNABE and showed Itzy exploring a range of production techniques and styles. So it’s follow up NOT SHY had to change things up whilst keeping up the impressive production that Itzy are known for. But on NOT SHY it doesn’t feel like they’ve managed to strike gold yet.
Not Shy was a really nice song up until the chorus which just felt kind of obnoxious and for me Lia’s parts stood out the most. The prechorus and ... read more

Hey, nice reviews!
Here's a question. Since, I've seen YUKIKA get a lot of attention recently. & I see that you enjoyed the album quite a bit.
As somebody who usually doesn't like K-Pop at all, would it be a good place to start? Is it accessible to a total beginner to K-Pop?
