I was extremely surprised by this record. Based on all the user and critic scores, I wasn't expecting to hear something nearly this good until I got to their album "Meddle" but it came early for me. I like the sound and the feeling of this album so much, especially during the first song, that I found it difficult to get the smile off of my face. I became so immersed in this record that I almost fell out of my chair when someone walked into my room - a bit of a jumpscare!

Let's start with the first track, which happens to be the title track. This is without a doubt, no question in my mind, the best song on this record. The "psychedelicness" and the experimentation inside this song is done absolutely perfectly. Making a 24 minute song as captivating and interesting as Pink Floyd has done is incredibly difficult. Only near the end did I become to feel slightly overwhelmed, but I was lifted back onto my feet by the amazing finale. Even though this song technically has no lyrics, the meaning is incredibly apparent. It's also amazing to me that the band members had to record the bass and drums in a single sitting, as they were not able to splice or edit any pieces together. This, alone, shows how much work they were willing to put into their songs in order to get the perfect feeling.

Moving on, the next 3 tracks are all very great, my least favorite probably being the first "If" but that is still okay. Each song was created by an individual member of the band, but they still feel fairly cohesive and work well together.

It's impossible to not mention the final track "Alan's Psychedelic Breakfast" which, as you would probably guess, is a very interesting track regarding Alan's breakfast. About half of this 13 minute track includes ASMR like cooking and eating sounds, while the other half includes amazing instrumentals, similar to that of the title track. I can't believe how much I enjoyed this track honestly, as it took me about half of my listen to really get into it.

Overall I am very surprised with this album. I'm going to have to give this more listens and an updated review, as I'm not sure if my feelings are just sudden and in the moment. But I must say, from what I've heard, the title track for this record is easily one of my favorite Pink Floyd songs ever.

Cover Art Review: 10/10
Yeah, that's right. I'm giving a cover of a cow's butt a 10/10. What are you gonna do about it?
Edit: To this day, a couple years later, this is still one of my favorite covers ever :-).
