A decent album with good songs, and some bleghs here and there, but yeah, decent. The biggest issue that I have with this album is its production; Stargate, in my humble opinion, didn't handle this well, and some of the depth of the instrumentals (such as Jonny's guitar parts, or Will's drums; for an example song, it'd be Birds) were hit negatively, which is unfortunate. The songwriting, while not on the level of the first five Coldplay albums, is enough to make me ... read more
The EP is ok. A short and fine listen. I do like the live version of the Chainsmokers song a bit more than the studio as it includes the whole band. Songs like All I Can Think About Is You (and Hypnotised, kinda) hark back to their alt-rock days, while A L I E N S - their Eno era

Gave it a re-listen, it's decent. While yes, some lyrics are def corny af; I'd still prefer this over Drones (Reapers slaps though).
The track list also could use a re-arrange, as the flow isn't consistent; the second half kinda slaps. Some songs (like Euphoria, KOBK, and WAFF) do call back to their Black Holes sound, so I'll give them that

Finally... a review for Day6. Coming back to this LP, it still holds up quite well - sounds as good the first time I heard it back in 2019/2020. Overall solid album, though the middle may get redundant or samey, still, the experience is good
A variety of genres can be heard; there's a pop punk vibe from How Can I Say and I Wait; there's pop rock sounds from Man in a movie; and my favorite is the intimate and soft sounding alt-rock sound from I Smile and especially Goodbye Winter, reminds me of ... read more
My main problem with this album is not that it's pop, it's just that the execution is terrible. Coldplay have tried to make a pop rock album before, and they succeeded (Mylo Xyloto). Good idea, terrible execution. The weakest one in their discography (so far).

While it may be seen as a return to form for Coldplay, I find the album quite lacking of thematic consistency and just overall flow. Some tracks here could be more powerful and musically interesting, but ended up being acoustic numbers and instrumentals with "background noise". I feel like it shouldn't have been a double-record in the first place.
Also, I don't want the "Old Coldplay", I want "fresh and inspired Coldplay", whether it be a pop rock, synth-rock, or ... read more
Sweet, intimate, lovely and nostalgic - are the words that I can think of when describing this album. Such an atmosphere that's attached to this record.
