Truthfully, I only knew their songs Smells Like Teen Spirit & About a Girl so this album also serves as a proper introduction to them for me.
On with the review...
Dear @DREscapePlan (hope you don't mind me crediting you for this),
You've been telling me about this album for a while now and all I can say is... THANK YOU!!!
For an acoustic album, this is beyond impressive stuff. Every track on this album hits hard, in terms of the instrumentation & Kurt's vocal delivery.
I honestly didn't want this to end. It was like an emotional rollercoaster. Also kinda haunting since this was Cobain's last televised performance.
Nonetheless, it's clear to see why this is the considered the best live album ever. Everything is clean, each song is emotionally investing & feels consistent all the way through.
Personal favourites:
About a Girl
Come As You Are
Jesus Doesn't Want Me For a Sunbeam (this one hit hard)
The Man Who Sold The World
Dumb
Polly
On a Plain
Something in the Way
Plateau
Oh, Me
Lake of Fire
All Apologies
Where Did You Sleep Last Night (a fantastic closer with one hell of a delivery on the final verse. Kurt was truly a tour-de-force singer.)
