Updated review: I've grown to appreciate and listen to The Beatles more ever since I last made my initial reviews, and I now appreciate this album just a little bit more. Great first outing from my favorite band ever.
As I slowly cry and weep, this album plays.
A Crow Looked At Me hurts to listen to. It's not bad. Not by any means. But because these songs can and will break you. The lyrics hurt to read. The context of this album is what makes it devastating. The creator lost his wife to pancreatic cancer in 2016. That hurts enough as it is. Espesially with once again, some of the lyrics on here. But how it is important to me specifically is what I gone through in 2021. About 3 years ago as of writing ... read more
The album with the most troubled development is the album where the beatles go as far as they can with experimentation. With just 30 songs, rounding up to an almost hour and a half long album, there are obviously some very bold songs to say the least. Some of the best songs on here are some of the best songs in the beatles discography. Songs like Blackbird, Back In The USSR, and Helter Skelter are some of the most unique and best songs the beatles have ever made. Even some of the more divisive ... read more
Unlike the movie, Magical Mystery Tour the album is pretty good all things considered. It's kinda more of the same from Sgt. Pepper, but with a more surreal twist. Some of the songs on here are very unique in the beatles discography, because they don't follow some of the formulas the beatles usually follow, even during their most experimental Era. Lyrics can be weird. They can be odd. And only one or two songs on here are bad. Despite this sudden tone shift, this still isn't the ... read more
For as long as I can remember, Sgt. Pepper was my favorite Beatles album. But I can't give it thst anymore. The songs on here are excellent. The majority deserve a talk among their own. But I can't put it on par with Revolver, purely for the fact there are one or two songs that are just alright. But thst doesn't mean I'm not a fan of this album. The majority I love to death. Espesially the first 3 songs. But even so, songs like Fixing A Hole aren't the greatest work the ... read more
I understand the consensus on albums like Abbey Road or Sgt. Pepper being your favorite Beatles album. Yet despite the still unending praise Revolver gets today, and still consistently ranking high on most "greatest albums ever" charts, you don't hear much people say this is their favorite Beatles album. And I'm one of those. Revolver remains as one of the greatest pieces of music I have ever listened to. Sgt. Pepper was my favorite for a while. But I can't get over how ... read more
THIS is the first truly great beatles album. I don't see this album get the praise it deserves, but I'd assume that was because of the album that released after this one. But even today, it still holds up. Beautiful lyrics, melodies, etc.
Standout songs are Michelle, Drive My Car, Nowhere Man, Norwegian Wood (That Bird Has Flown), and In My Life.
The first beatles album that hits the whole way through for. This time, they experiment with a newer sound, bringing in violins rather than sticking to guitar, bass and drums. And it works. Especially with the song Yesterday, which is basically perfect. Other standouts is the title track, You've Got to Hide Your Love Away, and I've Just Seen A Face.
Just like With The Beatles, it's more of the same of A Hard Day's Night, just with some less notable songs. While the pacing remains the same and overall better in some aspects over A Hard Day's Night, only one or two songs kept my attention, but never truly got bad.
While the second half could drag on a good while, the first half is always a treat to listen to. Especially some of the poppier songs, like the title track, and Can't Buy Me Love. The Beatles in their early days work best when still experimenting, but keeping the upbeat pop energy
Despite this being the album that knocked off the previous album at #1 on the billboard top 100 (their first album) its not that different from their first, making it a pretty forgettable listen. Just a couple songs on here are truly noteworthy, but no song is awful, or bad by any means, just kina forgettable
I don't understand the mixed reception this album gets. It's fantastic. It was also the first ever CD I bought with my own money.
Plus, my favorite song on the album is also considered thr worst for some reason, that being "Blue Dream."
I wouldn't go outta my way to say this album is even close to their greatest. But it's I my top 5
Truly a middle of the road album. Its not too terribly awful to call bad, but not good enough to be considered fine enough. It's just that alright.
There are like one or two notable songs, but the rest just kinda sound the same and blend in with each other.
How can Weezer go any lower? Cover album, of course!
I genuinely can't think of anything to say. All of these songs are just butchered 80's songs to sound like nails on a chalkboard. River's voice does NOT fit ANY of these songs. Listen to the originals instead of this piss poor attempt of a cover album.
They had a good streak, but had to mess it up.
Such a disappointment of an album all around. Never would I expect a band to go from one of their greatest achievements, to one of their worst outputs. But they did it. Honestly, this is the 3rd worst Weezer album. Above Raditude and Teal, but worse than Make Believe.
