Thom’s voice was starting to show signs of aging on the last Smile album. I feel like here he’s figured out how to deal with that. Intro is gorgeous. Moment when the strings come in is really impressive. Love the drumming too. This might be their best song up to this point.
One of my friends used to play this on the bus to middle school every single day. Not quietly either. As loud as he could, and the bus driver did not care. Even when I wasn’t sitting with this guy, I could still hear it. It was so loud you couldn’t hear yourself think. I would get on the bus in the morning and immediately be greeted by that.

Squid Game ⁉️ (AKA I try to get back into reviewing music)
We are now about two years out from Squid’s debut album, Bright Green Field. That album was a really great British art rock album, something that there seems to be no shortage of these days. But Squid stood out to me at the time for their jagged guitar lines and unhinged vocal performances.
