This record is actually quite fun. Ellie took on a new direction with much more commercial production. But through the prism of time, I think that was a good decision and it suits her well. Song after song, hook after hook, there's almost no filler in here.
criminally overrated. i don't hear anything special and as you think it over, their sound hasn't really progressed or anything, it just got darker. i was heavily hyped with the Lemon Glow single but the record as a whole is not that great the fans will try to persuade you.
delightfully consistent record, i can't even pick my favourite song. Maybe it's Odessa Theme. Or Knockers. Or Voyagers End. Dunno, man, it's all great.
truly extraordinary, especially Nomadic Revery, Another Day Full of Dread, Madeleine-Mary and Black
smashin', bashin' good.
so much energy, so much great lyrics, so much passion - doing music in the right way.
Christgau said it best: "This is their sound, there is none higher, other indie bands should just retire."
At first I didn't really like her formula but as the record progressed, it started working quite nicely. Her voice and sound remind me of Ellie Goulding but sonically and lyrically Morris is on a much higher level.
Reborn, Do It (great one), Physical Form (great one), Rose Garden
those guys ripped off Gang of Four's Entertainment! in not a very good way. Anyway, the second part (songs 6 to 10), is quite enjoyable.
"Discover", "New Values", "Overtime"
some pretty fine hooks combined with some terrible songs. nothing new from this band but they continue to be fun at times.
I really underestimated this record (my initial rating was 50). What I love about it is its' absurdism - the music makes you wanna dance, but when you read the lyrics you wanna cry. It's a fresh breath for Paramore and it's fun listening with all the great hooks.
Fake Happy, Pool, Caught in the Middle, Idle Worship (!)
totally love those 40th Anniversary editions, yet another brutal concert, this time from Glasgow.
