"Mercurial World" by Magdalena Bay is one of the most exciting albums to come out of what can already be deemed as a great year for music. From its insatiably catchy hooks, eclectic rhythms, and it's seamless transitioning from one track to the next, it all comes together to create one of the most cohesive albums of recent memory. What really sets this album apart from the rest, however, is its ability to be taken in all as one, yet you can pick any track here in its tracklisting and ... read more

Day/Night is the sophomore Double-LP from Berlin-based, Australian five-piece, Parcels. It has been three years since their self-titled debut and have since released a Live album that truly encapsulates how significant their sound is and even that isn't very telling of the intricacies of their physical, live renditions of some of their songs. Day/Night is an album that has a much larger scope than their debut, but it also refines their sound while also presenting it with far more grandeur.

“Friends That Break Your Heart” is the 5th album from James Blake and on this album the British producer makes some of the best tracks he’s produced to date.
Unfortunately however this album falls victim to many ideas that are either cut short or simply undercooked.

The features that he utilises here simply don’t hold their own on the tracks they appear on, and the accompanying beats aren’t strong enough to carry the tracks by themselves. With that being said, ... read more

The third single from Parcels’ upcoming album “Somethinggreater” continues the bands upward trajectory, with this single being up there with their best so far. The upcoming double-album is looking very promising.

I Dont Wanna Talk (I Just Wanna Dance) is destined for commercial success. Fortunately there is some merit to this track as the beat is colourful and the chorus is catchy. Its a shame it continues the trend of the band straying from their roots, but who cares when the music is fun.

I think it would be important to highlight albums from the past 5-10 years you feel have been truly innovative, either in their general construction (production, instruments usage), vocals, sociopolitical discussion or anything else you can think of.
Would you be kindly be able to reply with 1-3 albums that you think have been truly innovative in particularly recent times?

So cool to see a scottish reviewer. I'm a scottish artist!

Yo, you may not know who I am but I just put out my first project of 3 I'm releasing this year. I tried 8 different styles and really tried to keep the whole thing engaging throughout, it has mainly elements of hiphop and you'll see me try my best to follow in the steps of new artists like Slowthai and Joey Bada$$. I got it properly mixed and mastered and I hope I can win you over with at least one track. Give it a try and review it, I would love and appreciate some feedback. All love <3

Hi there! I accidentally deleted my Fetch the Bolt Cutters review (instead of 'editing' it) and I'm quite pleased with it, would you mind giving it another look? I don't expect a like, just a read my friend!
