Kendricks first album, its a very good one but has some flaws. There are amazing songs on this LP but it has some average songs which bring the overall quality of the album down. Despite the flaws the album still shows us the quality and talent of a Young Kendrick and what he has instore in the future.
This is Kendricks victory run after the rap beef with the rapper Drake. GNX is one of Kendrick most repeatable albums with a track list not only stacked with bangers and hits but each song being unique and shows a different part of west coast culture. It is a gift to west coast rap and sets a high bar for other rappers.
An extremely open and emotional album, one that in my opinion cannot be made by any other artist other Kendrick. This album takes us into the mind of Kendrick and his journey to strip the ego and break a generational curse. Your experience on this 2 disk LP is like wine, the older you get the finer it taste, because the more you experience life the more you will connect to this album.
The hate for this album is something i cannot get behind. Though it has it flaws, it is still a great album of the 2010's. Its concept is truly masterful and very complex but not as much as 'To Pimp a Butterfly,' and in my opinion this album has Kendricks best concept. This album has many hits and is the most commercially successful of Kendricks but still provides many soulful and lyrical masterpieces like Duckworth.
This album is Kendrick most critically acclaimed and is so for good reasons. It speaks of many important and relevant issues of today but still manages to keep your head moving to its funking beats and Kendricks incredible flows keep you hooked from start to finish. This is an album which gets better each time you listen to it with you getting to learn something new about the album each time.
