Truthfully a very useless release so I’m not going to put a rating, but Mother is a great track, and it’s nice that Tyler did a little something for the one year anniversary of arguably the most important album in his discography in terms of numbers. Cover is cool too.
To put it simply, this is probably the weakest project I have heard from Kevin Parker, hands down. But, despite that, it’s still something I can get behind. His moments of genius still show a good bit throughout the 55 minute duration. However, it’s hard to top yourself after releasing arguably your best project not even half a decade prior, ESPECIALLY when switching up your sound completely. Still arguably a pretty good album despite that.
Something about Faye Webster’s music to me just clicks. It all just makes sense, and there’s not really an explanation as to why. It all just works.
Although the sound design on this record is unlike anything, I can’t help but to not like this form of noise rock, let alone the genre as a whole. I can’t seem to follow the concept and the direction that albums like this are trying to go in, and this isn’t an exception. However, it wasn’t the worst.
