Gorgeous. Just gorgeous.
I could honestly gush over this album for hours. This is my all-time favorite album. It's a gorgeous and otherworldly experience from front to back. His "State Album" concept was perfected on this record. The way he entangles rich Illinois history with his own personal trials and tribulations is one to be commended. And the versatility as well! Utterly transcendent
If you know me, you know I am very harsh when it comes to 10/10 albums. It's entirely possible I'm overreacting, but I like to think I'm not. This album is flawless. In fact, I'd argue that this album sounds like it literally came from heaven, Sampha genuinely sounds angelic on this record. An interesting reception
Sleep Token seems to elicit strong reactions out of people. Some people absolutely adore them and proclaim them as the next great metal band, while others viscerally hate them. Personally I was underwhelmed by this project but not as much as I expected. The context has ruined the album
Meme albums like these are pretty hard to do well, because the music has to be ridiculous and funny, while also having some aspect of them being enjoyable. When I initially heard this record, that was my opinion about it, it managed to walk that line. This is one of those rare cases for me when finding out that Nick and Ethan are bad people through the SuperMega drama (which I won't get into) has ruined the charm this album once had for me. Unironically fun
Oddwin is a super talented guy, and I've discovered his Youtube channel through this album. I don't have much to say other than this is a meme rap album with a shockingly high production value. Yeah, these songs are funny, but they are genuinely well made with killer production and insanely catchy hooks. I also appreciate that these are impressions instead of AI, which makes it even funnier.

I wish I could say I have a unique opinion about this album, but I have to agree with the masses and say that Linkin Park really dropped the ball on this album. It sounds a lot more generic and like other bands at the time compared to their super fresh sound for the time with their first 2 albums.
