Maybe this is a grower album or something, but while I think it's good, I don't think i[t's this masterpiece everyone props it up to be. Like, the style is certainly weird and avant-gaerde, and I commend it for the weirdness. Sometimes, it just hits, and sometimes it just doesn't. But, I don't want to dog on this while giving it an 80,.
This is an 80 because of the creativity. It's like, every song is somewhere on a venn diagram between art. pop, and rock. And with ... read more
Shocker, good synthpop is made by gay people.
In all seriousness, this is perfectly fine music. I mean, it's not groundbreaking in any way, nor is it necessarily music that'll go on my playlist, but this is just a good vibe the whole time, and I think it has to do with the vocals, which make it stand out from the rest of the artists from this decade. If you want to get into PSB, my advice is to start wirth Actually; it's a more finished project in my opinion.
Very cool Spanish album! I can't speak on the sound because this is one oif my first times with this genre, but it was a vibe the whole time through. Amazing voice, great range of instrumentals, and overall nothing is really bad. It's not bad, but not perfect either, but there's nothing wrong with that.
I can't lie, this was kind of a disappointment. The Minutes to Midnight sound isn't bad, but it doesn't really fit LP??? Shinoda's rapping is good, even better than before, but it doesn't feel right slapped on this record, and I can say the same for Chester's singing. I like the concept, but it doesn't feel well executed. As a friend of mine said, it feels like a really late 9/11 memorial piece. There are a couple songs I like, but there are a lot I ... read more
(HEAVILY OUTDATED I LOVE THIS NOW)
Upon first listen, I don't think that this is the album of the year 100 that everyone hyped it up to be. However, it is pretty damn good. I think the first half is good, but it's missing something. It's perfectly servicable, but there are also a couple missing things. By the time that Love is Everywhere hits, though, it suddenly jumps from a light 8 to a strong 9 in quality. The production is immaculate, the instrumentals are extremely detailed, ... read more
3 edgier b-sides from get Awkward. Same thoughts as original record, see my review for ir
Each song is like a microdose of a different unnamed drug you pick up on the street. This very short album is extremely chaotic, fast-paced, and a mixed bag that's overall pretty solid. The beginning is the best, with some teenager pop-punk levels of music. The execution works because of the female vocals, which prevents it from sounding weird or forced. It's not all perfect-- at the end, it does kind of lose some steam and become pretty cheesy, but it never is outright bad.
Okay, what is going on? Do I like folk suddenly, or is Adrienne Lenker's voice and the production of the rest of the members just something else? Maybe it's both, but the latter is definitely true. This album feels like walking out of a movie theater in a grey January day, or getting home on a late night. It feels so cold, yet so warm. Like a pleasantly chilling breeze on a walk, it's long, but it doesn't drag. It doesn't feel any longer or shorter than 80 minutes, ... read more
This is awesome omfg. It feels listening to this in the year 2024, because I feel weirdly ashamed that I haven't heard this yet. Jimi Hendrix really was one of the best guitarists of the 20th century. For its time, this was probably revolutionary. It's hard to describe how I feel listening to this. It's like, I feel like I'm on drugs, but I'm also ascending to a new understanding. The solos and sparsely spread vocals really do a lot to make the record sound like ... read more
I wanted to wait until Friday to review this for a specific reason. This album has been highly anticipated from everyone for a long-ass time, and a first listen never lives up to your expectations. This album is honestly still growing on me; I don't want to say it's worse than Flower Boy, IGOR and CMIYGL, but it's definitely very different to label it alongside the others.
This feels like Tyler's most raw and emotionally potent record yet. WILSHIRE was praised as a moment of ... read more
This omne was insanely weird, and I still don't know how to feel about it. Dog Fashion Disco feels like having a panic attack while you're off the shits on LSD. I kid you not, every song goes back and forth between chill and metal. There are creative decisions scattered through this album that I love, and others that I'm not a fan of. It all comes together to make something I really don't know how to feel about. 7/10 for the demons
Some perfectly fine chiptune-esque music. I feel like I'm in a Geometry Dash or slither.io pro compilation from 2017, but it's not bad. Kind of dated, but not bad at all.
This record is extremely fucking weird. It has a concept, but you can't tell exactly what it is on first listen. It's incredibly pretentious, and every song is a mix of things that both work and things that don't work. It's not bad, but nowhere near as good as The Worm.
Do I... like folk music? Well, I'm not the biggest fan of the genre normally. I don't know, something about it doesn't really hit for me. But this is a genuinely great album. It's almost chillingly haunting. Adrienne Lenker's voice is perfect for this kind of music, because it holds so much emotion within. The production also feels varied- the genre is definite, but every song feels different from the last. However, where I think the album is at its absolute best is two ... read more
This is definitely the most cohesive Depeche Mode album I've heard. It's just overall pretty well put together. The middle kind of lulls a bit, and all of my past criticisms of 80s pop kinda holds here, but this is definitely one of the stronger records of this kind, especially near the beginning and ending. Pretty cool! Now I just need to do Violator.
I think this is a much more developed album than its predecessor. It has its own unique sound, that's for sure, and more songs I enjoyed more. Kollage was a definite standout. It's not perfection, but it is pretty solid, and I'm likely tuning in to her next release.
Not sure how to feel about this one. On the surface I should love it, but honestly? It's just okay. I like the voice, it reminds me of Gaga mixed with MARINA, and the backing tracks are cool, but something doesn't really hit like it should. It's not bad, but also mostly forgettable.
This is like the definition of a nothingburger album. Every song sounds the same, it feels soulless, like 2017 No copyright pop music for your electro channel. The features all sound the same: overproduced. I'm not even mad, just pissed at this waste of my time.
Pun intended for the score.
The Offspring will create an Instrumental that sounds like a classic, and then he starts singing about a "GWORLLL". Real talk; this is the most dated album I've heard yet. Everything feels stuck in a box office bomb turned cult classic 90s movie. It's so cheesy, and I can't tell if it's taking itself seriously or not. It also feels a lot longer than 42 minutes??? I don't think it's bad but I'm moreso just confused
I didn't have much to say about this: it was kinda generic?? 80s synthpop with a slightly less synthy vibe. It's cool, I guess but there's no reason for me to come back to this.
