Pretty solid cover EP, it's pretty funny how this was better than almost everything from Infestissumam. Not a lot to say. Solid covers and a pretty fun time if you like their stuff.
Am I... the first person to leave a review for this album? I don't think that's happened before, huh.
Anyways, Love CPR is a pretty alright electro-Euro pop album. It's very consistent with only a couple misses. If you're really into this sort of music, you'll probably love it, but for me I just found it sorta decent. She's got a nice voice, and the songs are made well enough, but I'd still prefer to listen to X by Kylie again.
Does this count if I saw it live in theaters???
Congrats, this is the Ghost Greatest Hits album. It's pretty cool, has a lot of my favorites (Mummy Dust my beloved). It's still a soundtrack so it's not a *100* but yeah, pretty cool, not a lot else to say. This is a lot better when you're actually watching the movie.
Jesus FUCK I am ascending. At this point I'm a full-time Kali Uchis stan. What is there not to like from her? Her angelic voice, her great writing, chill beats, and clean production are all here. It feels like Isolation, but a bit rougher around the edges. It doesn't really have that magnum opus energy here, but it's still just such a nice time. This feels like a comfort album- something you can always turn to, no matter how bad it gets.
I dunno, this was just kind of alright. I do like the synthpop sound, but most of my problems with the band stay here too. Good production, nice voice, decent enough lyrics, but I don't know, I just can't get into it, which is surprising for me, because i usually love this sort of music. If you love Depeche Mode, you'll probably love this, and props to you for that, but if you don't really care for them, you won't be missing out on a lot by skipping this.
Thank you homosexuals for inventing this bombass album holy shit. Wham! was always one of those groups where, like, yeah, I knew it was good, but they almost felt too popular for everyone to praise, because like yeah everyone knows this. But I can't stress how this is actually a must-hear album. Everyone knows that Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go and Careless Whisper (although the full version elevates it to a higher level) are bangers, but there are others here hidden that also go hard. ... read more
Fucking weird and unhinged... but what would System even be without that? I do think I prefer Toxicity more, but this album has the higher peaks and lower valleys of the two. This thing will go from the best thing you've heard, to something that makes you feel like a schizophrenic with zero remorse. Serj's voice is still a gem, with an insane range that fits so much. The instrumentals are also insane and really get your blood pumping regardless of what it is. The only problems I have ... read more
First time I'm really going against the public opinion here, but I don't know, I really couldn't get into this one. Earl Sweatshirt has some great things going for him: a unique voice, smooth flow, great writing and incredible sample choice. However, the two major issues I've got come with the song lengths and production. Most of the songs were just too short to really leave an impact on me. Only The Bends and Riot! left me feeling anything, which sucks because a song would ... read more
This is one of those albums where I feel like it needs to be preserved for all of the future generations. It's not perfect, but it has such great highs to it. I love when songs are complex and layered, and pretty much all of these songs fall into that category. Take the intro track Shout. It's 6 and a half minutes, but it runs so smoothly. And also OH MY GOD I CANT TAKE IT ANYMORE. Everybody Wants to Rule the World may be overrated. but it's for GOOD REASON. Good God, this song ... read more
This one was better than Hozier, by a reasonable margin. It has a lot of emotion in its writing and voice, and Hozier's angelic vocals lift it to an objectively good level. The start is also really good, with a decent amount of energy. However, it also struggles from the same stuff that the self-titled album struggled from, with not a lot to set apart the tracks from one another, especially nearing the end. It was just so *boring*. There's progression, but it feels like he could be ... read more
This one was just kinda decent. I'm not too big on this overly-produced sound, but he has a nice voice. I like how it's unapologetically queer, and it probably is gonna do a lot for someone out there exploring their sexuality, because of the way it covers queerness. I think this album is at its best easily when he's singing, because he does have a genuinely good voice, but he's doing this mumble-autotune club pop music that really doesn't fit him. It's alright, I ... read more
Either Fantano was wrong or I'm an insufferable theater kid. Or maybe both at true. Either way, I really liked The Worm. I went into this one with basically no expectations, and my god did this blow me away. This is a concept album about... a worm takeover and apocalypse, and the attempts of the lead singer to eradicate them? I love when albums have these batshit insane concepts, because when they work, they *work*. On paper this sounds like it's doomed for failure, but in reality, ... read more
I dunno, I couldn't really get into this one. It's not *bad*, not at all. Gotye's got a nice voice, and the psychedelic instrumentals are cool. The thing is, though, there's not really a lot to set each track apart from the others. Like, I really had trouble picking standouts aside from Somebody That I Used to Know. It felt too experimental, but it also felt like it was playing it safe at the same time. Another weak spot is the repetitive writing leaving even less of a ... read more
This was one that kept me guessing the whole time. Okay, so, like, it's a mix between... gay bar popper anthems, recession pop, and batshit insane synthpop. There seems to be inspo from every big pop girl here. Britney, Gaga, Kylie, Charli, even a tiny bit of Lorde. It does seem a bit chaotic at times, admittedly, but it's also still pretty solid. Like, at worst, it's kinda corny, but when it reaches highs, they're pretty high. Miss Belladonna has some great vocals ... read more
This album is such a hot mess, and that's a good and bad thing for this. Got recommended this from an irl family-friend, and before this, I had no idea of what N.E.R.D. really was, besides the fact that Pharrell is there, and it's very divisive. My thoughts after a full listen? This is one of those albums that throws everything it's got at the wall, and hopes enough things stick well enough to leave a positive impression. I commend the "not giving a fuck" energy it has, ... read more
Oh I forgot to do this one too
Yeah I'm gonna die on this hill. No I don't care that I'm losing credibility for this.
I WANNA PREFACE THIS BY SAYING THAT I FUCKING HATE LEAGUE AND I KNOW THEM FROM JUST DANCE FIRST
Really fun EP! Great features, a bit corny but the maximalist production makes up for it. Very guilty-pleasurey, but like come on, don't act like you don't have worse. Imma die on this hill still, I don't care that its capitalist and they aren't ... read more
Oh yeah I forgot I technically listened to this one before, I just blocked it out. I mean, it was alright. It could've been better, it could've been a lot worse though I guess. Ignoring all the gross shit Wilbur's done, his voice does an okay enough job of like fitting this indie rock sound that every band tried at some point. It's fine, the production is fine, ideas are neat but are executed fine. I could kinda get if someone was a fan before this, but also fuck you Wilbur ... read more
Thank you Barack Obama for giving me this trance EP, I guess. Trance isn't all for me, but it's a cute, well-produced debut EP that I thought was a good time. We stan Tammy Lakkis in this house
Okay, I'm finally doing a Kendrick album! This is one of those artists I've had on my "I've got to check them out" list for AGES. I decided to start getting into him through his most commercial, but not most-acclaimed album (so I don't disappoint myself on other projects by starting out with GKMC and TPAB so early). Anyways, onto the actual album.
How do I describe listening to DAMN.? Okay, it wasn't perfect. While there are incredibly high highs that ... read more
Thanks to @daltdisney for the rec!
This one was pretty damn good, honestly. I'm not really educated on what each wave of emo means, but I want more of whatever this wave is. It's just really good overall. A nice voice that works with the writing, and a range of songs that fit together well. I will say, the easily best part of this project has to be the instrumentals. They can be so many things, and usually fits whatever is needed for the song, and more. I love the horns, especially ... read more
