"Squeeze" does not have a single reason to be put under The Velvet Underground's name. Lou Reed is gone and Doug Yule is not a good replacement for him, as he lacks the charm and songwriting ability. The actual music on here is PAINFULLY average, with safe lyrics, middling instrumentation and cheap production. There's nothing adventurous or worthwhile on this record and, at just 33 minutes, this is an easy skip.

The Velvet Underground ditches their experimentation in favor of a completely mainstream sound on "Loaded". Does that mean it fails as a VU record? No. It still has the charisma, writing and fun of the past few records and, while there are a couple of cuts that fall a little bit short of the mark, it's a massively enjoyable "sellout" album overall.

I found the singles leading up to this very promising and, quite surprising the record manages to live up to the hype. While I don't have any religious beliefs whatsoever and Christian music is just... not very good, I really appreciate that half•alive manages to surpass the expectations of the genre and focuses on both the sound and the lyrical content. "Now, Not Yet" is a well-produced, well-written, catchy, fun and just friggin’ adorable! Proooobably the best ... read more
Some of these cuts are really damn good while the others are some of the most amateur and downright awful music I've heard in a while, but that's pretty much what I expected. Otherwise, I had a really fun time with this compilation and I look forward to seeing more from you guys in the future. :)

"We Are Not Your Kind" doesn't really hook me on to Slipknot's music in any way, but there is a surprising amount of fun to be had here. Sure, it's a little inconsistent and there's moments of cheese, but the intensity of the production and instrumentation is hard not to admire and there are even a few "experimental" cuts that are a welcome change of pace.

As someone who hasn't checked out Justin Vernon's discography yet, I have no comparison to make on his records. But what I've heard from "i,i" is pretty good. The whole thing is gorgeously produced, Justin's voice is great and it has some lyrical highpoints. However, there are a few half-assed moments in the tracklist that should’ve been left on the drawing board.

"It's My Life" is much improved from "The Party's Over" in every way. The vocals are powerful, the production is great, the hooks are outstanding and this is pretty much a cut above most 80's synthpop releases, overall.

Talk Talk's debut isn't bad in any way, it's just your typical, by-the-numbers synthpop record from the new wave era. There are a few highlights and the writing is pretty damn good, but "The Party's Over" is inoffensive as a whole.

It's not as masterful as "Deathconsciousness", but "The Unnatural World" is still a dark, gloomy, atmospheric and beautiful record that nearly recaptures the magic of their debut in half the time. I don't really mind that it's not as good, it still hits really hard and it's yet another amazing entree in Have a Nice Life's catalog.

Hmm... I found it better than “I Been Born Again” but the mixing is really off and the tuba is so much louder than everything else. The verses are pretty cool though.
By going deeper into the themes of "Deathconsciousness", Dan Barrett manages to create an even more haunting atmosphere with the help of the more dark folk instrumentation. But the real highlight is in the lyrics, which are equal parts suicidal and self-sabotaging. It's pretty much as depressing as "Deathconsciousness" - albeit with a pinch of optimism in its sound - but the Giles Corey moniker makes enough tweaks to make this record an incredible debut in its own ... read more
I am very aware that I've said this on quite a few albums and this will probably be the very last time I will ever say it, but "Deathconsciousness" struck an emotional chord within me that no other album has struck before. This record touches upon subjects of anxiety, depression and death in a way that just hit me hard. I was crying, my heart broke, it just highlights how much of an emotional wreck I am. The instrumentation and lo-fi production are absolutely perfect for the tortured ... read more
If the rest of "Fear Inoculum" could compete with this, then it'll be fair to say that this new album may just live up to the hype! The production, instrumentation, vocals and atmosphere are all what I've come to expect from Tool!
While it's not as blissful or creative as something like "Cosmogramma", goddamn, does it come close in terms of enjoyment! "Until The Quiet Comes" is a beautifully-produced, trippy and incredibly cohesive project that holds the characteristics of Flying Lotus' music while expanding upon them for a more comforting atmosphere.

Great
There was a time when I was trying to get more into experimental music after listening to Radiohead's discography. So when I saw that Thom Yorke was on a track, I clicked on it and immediately fell in love with the soundscapes. When I first listened to "Cosmogramma", I was taken to another world! The "lo-fi" instrumental hip-hop production is hypnotic, the synths are gorgeous, the jazz elements are blissful and the textures are unlike anything I've heard before! Overall, ... read more
While it's not my absolute favorite record of his, "Los Angeles" is still an outstanding collection of electronic/instrumental hip hop tracks. Each one is so meticulously-produced and so well thought out that it ends up having the same amount of replay value as anything else Flying Lotus has worked on.

It's amazing how much progression Flying Lotus has made in his career because "1983" is definitely not a good start. It started very promising for the first four tracks with some outstanding production, but the quality dropped hard after that with some dreadful beats that stand out as his worst. It's not awful, it's just that it will never come close to FlyLo's greatest works.

I wouldn't say that "Immunity" the end of the world, not at all. I think Clairo has SOME talent and there is SOME very pretty production (notice how many times I'm using the word "some"). Unfortunately, there's also some poor production choices and middle-of-the-road songwriting holding her back... which kind of explains why people are coining her as an industry plant.
