400TH REVIEW!!!!
This album has been on my radar for a while now, but I only checked it out very recently. Absolutely inexcuseable that I waited this long to check it out.
The first half of this album is so incredible. I literally can't help but move to these tracks until my head falls off.
In the first half, every musical idea on here just works so well. The first half is the most amazing 4 track run ever. The opener which introduces the sound of this album in the catchiest way ... read more
So like a week ago I got a new pair of open-back headphones for my PC. Nothing really special, but much better and much closer to like an "audiophile" type of sound than what I had before. This is the first album I listened to fully on those new headphones.
My god this album is an absolutely amazing listen on a good pair of headphones. This album absolutely surprised me because my experience with this band has been very limited beforehand. I mean, outside of "Midnight ... read more
Sorry for taking this long to check this out @Skratchity.
This album isn't that bad at all and there are a lot of moments on here where I can see the vision and the potential behind this project. The problem is that there are just as many moments where this thing just sounds extremely dry and poorly produced. Songs like "fog" I feel could've been really good if the guitar that comes in just had a bit more low end to make it a bit more punchy. The same issue applies to ... read more
It's really weird how this album constantly switches back and forth from sounding really nice and atmospheric to the ugliest computer vomit imaginable.
Really not for me, but I can appreciate the creativity here.
I'm so mad cause this song is so close to being really really good.
The instrumentation is genuinely amazing, it goes for a darker vibe which I haven't heard from the few songs I heard from these guys. I am not a fan of Creed, hell post-grunge as a genre in general just isn't my cup of tea at all, but this is multiple steps above most of the garbage I heard out of this genre.
The main issue here really are the vocals. Why do they sound like that? I literally can't make ... read more
Took a few listens to warm up to me but damn this song is amazing. I just love everything about this track, especially the sound and the lyrics.
Good album that is absolutely carried by the powerful vocal performances as well as the catchy pop appeal. It's not the most groundbreaking thing soundvise, but it's an absolutely pleasant listen.
Even when this album isn't that interesting, Adele's vocal performance makes it significantly better. Your enjoyment of this album lives or dies depending on your enjoyment of her vocal style. She definitely is the centerpoint of her music which also means that you don't ... read more
Awesome song. Loving the different ideas being played with in this one. It's very dynamic and entertaining to listen to. The atmosphere is absolutely great and it goes by really quickly considering the 7 minute runtime.
Very enjoyable record with plenty of great moments. The only real issue is the fact that it gets really samey by the end, in my opinion.
This album isn't the worst thing ever obviously, but I really just do not care for hair metal at all. I think this album is one note, I don't like the vocals and I really don't like the tacky 80s production.
First time listening to a Gorillaz album. Pretty good, but I think that the hits are the songs that I will be returning to the most.
Man fuck this album. This thing lowkey sucks donkey buns.
Ok first off, what happened to the production? Why does everything here sound like the ugliest electronics imaginable? It's not just that, the beats themselves are actually so annoying and most of the time not even danceable in the slightest.
A valid critique I see of Daft Punk's music is that it's just repetitive, and honestly fair enough considering one of their biggest songs literally has them repeating the line ... read more
The cold, distant atmosphere this album achieves by combining indie rock and post-rock is just incredible.
This is one of the most immersive albums I have ever listened to. You can listen to this and just get lost in the incredible instrumentation on display here. It's such a haunting experience that definitely drilled itself into my head by the end. Absolutely a must listen.
Great record, about as good as everyone says it is. The only tracks that didn't really work for me were 'Waiting for the Night' and 'Blue Dress'. The rest is absolutely great.
This thing is such a drag. It's so generic and uninteresting. 15 songs and over an hour long for such a distilled metal album is just not worth it.
I guess it's good. It's literally just Total Life Forever again, although I guess some of the tracks have a more alternative rock/arena rock influence compared to last time (i.e. 'Inhaler' and 'Providence'), but for the most part this is the kind of album you'd expect as a follow up to Total Life Forever.
It's fun for the most part, there's a few standouts here, but I can't help but notice that most issues here are issues I had on the last ... read more
Occasionally there's a banger on here, but it seems like this album makes it its mission a little to often to just be a generic pastiche of 2000s alternative metal.
Not bad. Decently made, great musicianship, just a bit boring on too many occasions really.
80 -> 89
Ok so the weakest tracks actually grew on me and now I can confidently say that this is certainly one of my favorite indie rock/dance-punk albums of the 2000s. The math rock elements add some technicality to the beats on this thing and the horns included in the instrumentation actually add so much texture to this album. It's genuinely really unique for an indie rock album of its time.
I heard this album for the first time in December of 2024 and it has stuck by me for the ... read more
