Not a fan of the sex pest lyrics or the general sound of this thing, but can't deny how much more it suits them than the attempt to rip off Interpol on their first album.
The first two songs really surprised me with how fun they were to listen to, the rest I really couldn't give two shits about.
That outro was so unnecessary though. It's an uninteresting synth beat with a woman moaning over it. I really needed to hear 4 minutes of that good one guys.
Extremely generic metalcore album that doesn't really make me feel anything.
Ocassionally it would piss me off before going back to being the most boring thing I've heard in a while. Too good to absolutely hate yet not good enough to get anything meaningful out of listening to it.
An AJR project with a yellow score? You got my attention.
Aaaand it sucks. I mean I don't know what I expected since I hated every other project I've heard from them so far. This is an improvement for sure, it's significantly less annoying, but it still suffers from a lot of the issues that AJR has had up to this point. The corny writing, the gimmicky production and the still very immature general atmosphere of the whole thing.
I'm not a fan but it probably is their best ... read more
I had no idea what to expect with this but it turned out to be a really interesting record with a lot of texture and personality. It is unlike anything I've listened to before.
A few of the songs are a bit one note and kind of boring, but honestly the main thing holding it back is me just not understanding the language like at all, but overall this was a very interesting listen.
Look I am really not into MCR's style of pop-punk and their emo-adjacent sensibilities, but this one was atleast good enough to make me wonder if I missed something while listening to their other projects.
Quite a few of the songs on this thing are decent and genuinely pack a great punch. I still am not a huge fan of Gerard's vocals, but atleast on this album I found it better than on the other ones.
I guess the reason why I like this more than 'The Black Parade' is ... read more
Kid playing pretend: the album
The first half of this album is very silly and a great palette cleanser from the moody stuff I usually listen to, but after a while the novelty wears off. I guess I'm just not completely sold on the wackyness of this whole thing and honestly clocking in at over an hour this is just too much for me.
Quite a few enjoyable songs on here but honestly I was so done with it by the end. The vocals went from charming to absolutely annoying. I can say though the ... read more
I think that this style of emo-pop/metalcore really isn't for me like at all.
It's too whiny, too clean, too dramatic. Not much in the way of constructive criticism there and obviously all of it is down on me, but that's just how I feel about this album.
Honestly the first half wasn't even that bad. The songs were mostly tolerable and they even had sections that I would consider pretty good even, but jesus tracks 9-13 were absolutely dreadful. Just the most tacky, ... read more
Last year's Clancy was a bit middle of the road for me on release, but by the end of the year it became my most replayed record of that year. It singlehandedly managed to reinvigorate my interest in this band after the disappointing release of 'Scaled And Icy' and me just falling out of love with their pre-Trench albums.
This is actually a really good followup to Clancy. Very similar in quality, feels a bit more focused and less all over the place than any of their previous ... read more
I like this way more than AM actually.
I do understand why some people might consider this their weakest album. It doesn't have the pure energy of the first two albums, the experimentation of Humbug and the mainstream appeal of AM. These are just simple indie rock songs that play it safe for the most part.
Sure, it isn't exactly a groundbreaking listen or something completely original, but damn it actually does what it sets out to do quite well. First off, the production packs a ... read more
The first two songs are absolutely dreadful. Sorry I don't enjoy the same few notes repeating for 14 minjtes straight. And no, making them slightly faster and modulating it does NOT make it better or deserve its length.
The rest is fine, the atmosphere is a little more interesting, the songs are way more dynamic and it all sounds like it would be an alright soundtrack to a 16-bit era RPG.
Not something I wouls return to personally Ensomhet II and IV do go kinda hard though.
Way more lowkey album than Discovery which is something I didn't expect. The vibe didn't work for me on every song, but when it did it was incredible. The singles are the obvious highlights, but there's a lot to enjoy all over this album.
Also shoutout to the drumming on this album, it's incredible. This album is just a nice way for Daft Punk to end their discography.
Every Move A Picture was a band formed in San Francisco in 2004. They were a part of the Post-Punk Revival/Dance-Punk movement which was going on at the time.
Their influences were bands like Gang Of Four and early U2. They are a bit like The Killers, a little like Interpol with a dash of Franz Ferdinand as well. Their sound is basically angular guitars with catchy danceable grooves.
The band had some mild success leading up to the release of this album. They got some radio airplay, NME ... read more

- Howlin' Pele Almqvist, frontman of The Hives
Look if you've listened to any album by The Hives, you probably kinda know what to expect. It's a 30 minute joyride filled with catchy garage rock riffs, screachy vocals and chanty lyrics. You could probably read a review about 'Veni Vidi Vicious' and ... read more
It's just satisfying, it's exactly what I expected!
Considering Deftones have been at it for like 30 years, this is absolutely amazing. I only heard one other album by these guys but the fact that even now they're releasing albums of this quality which is really rare to see for a seasoned band like this.
It's got everything I kind of expected from a Deftones album and it is done about as well I could've hoped it would be. Some of the bits did blend in together, but ... read more
It's an incredibly visceral and genuine album this one. The production on this thing is just insanely punchy and the kinda grating vocals actually really fit the energy of this album.
I discovered this album at a point in my life where I was very uncertain for my future, so tracks like the opener, "Wasted Days" and "Stay Useless" just resonated with me on a whole other level back then. This album really made me feel less shitty about what I was going through, it just ... read more
I'd say I enjoyed that all around, I really like it when they try to do post-punk revival/alternative rock.
I love the instrumentation on here, the drumming goes really hard and the bass does its job quite well. Liked it more than The Contract, definetly makes me more excited for the album.
I used to be a huge fan of this guy. His content is what got me to join this site and it's what got me into music in general. I discovered some of my favorite albums because of this guy.
Just incredibly dissaponting to hear about what he's done. Fuck this guy, his actions tainted all of the fond memories I had of his content. I hope he gets the mental help he needs and I don't ever wanna hear from him again.
I really appreciate how consistent this band is.
This one doubles down on the poppier side of their self titled album and it does work well for the most part.
I feel like self titled is the more rounded album that strikes a better balance between their earlier sound and the more poppy sound of this record. This one sounds a bit too clean and not nearly as intense as their previous records, which isn't necessarily bad, but it did leave me bored for a few songs.
Quite a well made album ... read more
