The Weeknd - After Hours

The weeknd come back to form fully with after hours. This carefully constructed concept album follows the weeknds' on and off relationship with his lover and his issues with addiction and self loathing with beautifully soaring new wave synths infused with trap, R&B and even a psychedelic dream pop sound. The songs feel like different shades of the same color so they remain cohesive. His vocals are sometimes pitched to give the impression his on substances, but his performances are charismatic and earnest nonetheless, this melodic album isnt anything ground breaking but it doesnt have to be, a fruitful reinvention for the weeknd.
