An oppressive, dark and creepy album that gave me shivers. Released earlier this year, it's not quite at the level I would consider a contender for AOTY. However, it's quite an impressive listen. I especially like the way Katie uses ghost-Katies as a spectral choir to enhance the creepy atmosphere. There's also a definite pulling from her personal experiences present here. Gately lost her mother, and it bleeds through into this album's soul; mournful, almost. Sonically it's very creative, using ... read more

Naturalistic, psychedelic, minimalist, and strangely uplifting. The organ has been Hausswolff's favored instrument for a long time, and this album features it exclusively. I could see how this album would elude many people, but to me it's glorious, and in contention for my favorite of the year.

This album's only crime is that none of the songs are as good as the cut that didn't make it, "My Rajneesh". But, I wasn't asking for them to be. TA is still a masterclass in atmosphere and electronic manipulation. The fact that this is still only my fourth favorite Suf album is a testament to his enduring majesty. Listen to this!

This is the debut album from a star-studded supergroup, recently formed. The lineup is impressive, with vocalist Pete Murray of Lo-Pro and Ultraspank on lead, John Fahnestock (also of Lo-Pro) on bass, Chris Shy of Aurora Sky on guitar, and Will Hunt of Evanescence on drums.

"Condition Critical" is a very solid rock release. While I wouldn't say it's the most inventive rock has ever been, it's definitely enjoyable. On the opener, "Maybe It's Time", we get hard rock ... read more

An album that holds great significance to me on a personal level, "Houdini" is also a musical masterwork, combining elements of indie rock, post-rock and post-punk to great effect.

"Houdini" is an unashamed LGBT manifesto, with bold lyrics exploring and examining a gay/bi man's experience. In the hands of lesser musicians, the effect could well have been gimmicky and tawdry. Luckily, Long Fin Killie are experts at their craft, and this album manages to be intriguing, funny, ... read more

I could tell from the albums you've given perfect scores that you have great taste so I had to follow you. I haven't heard Blood Inside; I'm yet to binge through Ulver's discography. Bergtatt is the only one I've listened to so far so I'll check it out next.
