I actually really wanted this to be good. I loved the idea of Taylor dropping the antonoff slop, picking up her iconic pop collaborators, and making something more confident and fun. maximalist but clean, narrative driven, lots to dig into, but i feel like one thing that was neglected was just making a bop or two. These songs are good in their aesthetic and purpose but sometimes music is about strong emotions and it struggles to make me feel strong emotions. Like you ever listen to a song and its almost savory, it tickles you in a way that begs a replay, there isn't really one of those here, and i think that's a vice.
