Arguably Coltrane's most impressive outing at the time, Giant Steps shows a more experimental and progressive side to Coltrane's music, showing from early on that he wanted to push the boundaries of the genre, something that he accomplished to even greater lengths later down the road. With that being said, I do still feel that those later works are superior, as Giant Steps was at its core just a stepping stone to albums like A Love Supreme, Ascension, Meditations, etc. although with that being said it has still rightfully earned its place as an important and landmark moment in the realm of jazz.
