Mostly well written and I can see why so many people feel a personal connection with this album (i certainly now do with "Harbor"). However, the arrangements were largely mediocre and repetitive, which holds Sling back from being as good as it should be. Still decent, but with more interesting tracks that ascended and the incredibly unnecessary instrumental cut, it could've been great.
Best songs: Harbor, Reaper, Bambi
Worst song: Blouse
I absolutely love this sound palette
Best songs: Bite The Bait, Close To Me, Crave, Ladida, Words 2 Say, Doing It Too, On 2 Something
Worst song: Sweet Sensation
This is easily Doja's best produced album. I also think her rapping here is stronger than ever before. However, there are 2 issues that stop me from thinking this album is truly great: 1. Despite being a far richer rendition of the sound Planet Her & Hot Pink have, it fails to escape their shadow. Even if I do think Vie is a better album than those, songs like "Happy" and especially the agora hills ripoff "Acts of Service" make me think of her other projects rather ... read more
You know what maybe I don't dislike Mariah Carey after all. This was good and much better than expected.
Best songs: My Love, Sugar Sweet (with Kehlani & Shenseea), I Won't Allow It, Here For It All
Worst song: Mii
Mostly okay pop with a couple of serious duds dragging it down. For all the hype and promo that went into this album, it felt oddly muted and empty on a lot of the tracks. Zara has always been a solid artist but this is just another average edition of 3939392 other generic dance pop albums, leaving Midnight Sun to just be fine overall.
Best songs: Eurosummer, Saturn's Return, Puss Puss
WORST SONG: Pretty Ugly
This was as decent as expected. She has a lot of potential I'm just waiting for her to go all out
Best songs: Loud, Close Up, So Easy (To Fall In Love)
Worst song: Lady Lady
White people rapping should be a federal crime punishable by the death penalty but other than that, incredibly average rock and i couldn't tell you 1 thing about this album even if you promised me £10000
Best song: Cottonwood
Worst song: Center Mass
A considerable downgrade in sound from "Jubilee" but a considerable upgrade in songwriting
Best songs: Leda, Men In Bars (with Jeff Bridges), Winter in LA, Orlando in Love
Worst song: Mega Circuit
What the hell sure
Best songs: Sixth Grade Carnival, Panera
Worst song: A Twink and a Redhead
I can see the appeal but this type of music isn't really my thing, although the first half was consistently good it's just the second half that got lost on me. The last song specifically I found very overstimulating. Still decent overall
Best songs: Faceshopping, Immaterial, Ponyboy
Worst songs: Whole New World/Pretend World, Not Okay
I do not resonate with Blonde personally so I do not get as much out of this as most, but i can see why so many people love this album and it is good overall. Nothing is bad, it's very consistently solid with "White Ferrari" and "Seigfried" being the clear highlights.
Best songs: White Ferrari, Seigfried, Nights, Good Guy, Pretty Sweet, Godspeed, Solo (Reprise)
Worst song: Skyline To
I had fun idk. Is it cringe? Yes, but it is clearly intended to be and comes across well with very few songs getting annoying with it. AJR just seems like one of those acts everyone hates because they are easy to hate but I've always had a soft spot for them sue me
Best songs: BANG!, World's Smallest Violin, Way Less Sad, The Trick, Christmas In June
Worst song: Joe
This feels like a much more Rihanna album than the last 2! I'm surprised to see the high scores here tbh because of the mixed reception it received originally but it deserves it. Her most underrated singles are on here and this is definitely one of her most complete projects.
Best songs: Needed Me, Love On The Brain, Same Ol' Mistakes, Kiss It Better, Close To You, Never Ending, Yeah I Said It
Worst song: Work (with Drake)
There's certainly good moments but this sound just doesn't do much for her especially hearing it 13 years later
Best songs: Right Now (with David Guetta), What Now, Loveeeeeee Song (with Future), Nobody's Business (with Chris Brown)
Worst songs: Diamonds, Numb (with Eminem)
Very dated and whatever followed "Loud" was always going to suffer in comparison but Rihanna is singing it so it's still good. Also these deluxe songs are really great and I wish the album took on this sound more.
Best songs: You Da One, Farewell, Where Have You Been, Do Ya Thing, Fool In Love, Watch 'n Learn, Red Lipstick
Worst song: We Found Love (with Calvin Harris)
This upgrade of the century following the last album. Consistently great with some of her most iconic singles and memorable bsides. Nostalgia truly blessed my ears during this listen Rihanna is god
Best songs: Take A Bow, Disturbia, Hate That I Love You (with Ne-Yo), Lemme Get That, Shut Up and Drive, Rehab, Cry
Worst song: Push Up On Me
Mostly nice but Unfaithful is the only truly excellent song and the rest range from boring to nice but forgettable. Still a pleasant listen overall, just not one that ever really stands out.
Best songs: Unfaithful, Kisses Don't Lie, Break It Off (with Sean Paul), A Million Miles Away
Worst song: A Girl Like Me
