Human Remains were a band who was active for only 7 short years from 1989-1996 with this release being their swansong. Members of this band would also go on to be in bands such as Burnt By the Sun, Hayaino Daisuki, Discordance Axis, Gridlink and Municipal Waste among others.
I'm unsure how best to describe this EP. In it's short runtime of 17 minutes it goes between technical death metal, grindcore, mathcore, weird avant-garde sections.
The guitar riffing here is some of the most interesting I've ever heard. Sometimes the guitar uses various effects and plays really unusual riffs that I've never heard anything close to, especially in metal or hardcore. So many sections that are incredibly creative. There are also death metal riffs and grindy riffs and panic chord mathcore sections too.
The drum work here is fantastic. This is to be expected as Dave Witte from Discordance Axis and others plays drums here. The blast beats sound great, the fills are all really good.
The vocals sound like a mixture of John Tardy from Obituary and Chuck Schuldiner from Death. I love OSDM style vocals so i think the vocals are great.
All in all just a fantastic and really creative EP that I'd highly recommend.
