Death Grips - Niggas on the Moon
84

death grips released their glitchiest release yet, with every release there is a distinct sound to every album like how government plates was kinda like abstract rock and hip hop fusion.

notm is very glitchy and that’s apparent with the first track up my sleeves, it has this björk sample (which every track has) that is distorted where it sounds like it’s just drifting through the verses and chorus, until it breaks into this kinda bursts of björk samples while heavy ... read more

Death Grips - Year of the Snitch
91

considered one of the most favored dg albums by some fans and a lackluster bunch of tracks by others, year of the snitch i was expecting to be a mixed set, actually i had almost not expectations of this record as sometimes with death grips you could predict the next step of their discography to a degree but year of the snitch was a lot more different.

though having the most casual listening experience yet is still full of that angry and aggressive personality that the sacremento trio is known ... read more

Death Grips - Government Plates

finally taking on death grips head-on :D

i’ve listened to a few of their works in the past like notm (which is very good mind you) and bottomless pit (also yots but i kinda half-assed listening to it) but i’ve never thought of listening to their albums fully and throughly.

i started at an odd spot, government plates was my first album that i’m listening to on this death grips marathon. most people would say that government plates is their weakest release yet so i was ... read more

Halsey - BADLANDS
71

yeah okay bitches i changed my mind, whatever - suck my ass and see if i care.... actually i would i don’t like anal, how do the gays do it? anyways speaking of the homosexuals, the homosexual icon halsey prompted me to listen back to her badlands album with her sorta disappointing third album, now i still love hopeless fountain kingdom - it was very clean and sweet pop, love that shit - but badlands felt darker and more manic than manic was. the opening track (even though probably my ... read more

Justin Bieber - Changes
6

2019 pop music thrives, 2020 pop music dulls. justin bieber’s changes sees literally no artistic improvement from his last album, no changes whatsoever. originally wasn’t gonna review this, but yummy was a very quotable song, even though it’s a pretty trash song and that piqued my interest. i had enjoyed like one of bieber’s albums before, i believe it was journals. listened to it more than i should but i’m out of it now. purpose was good for when it was released ... read more

Selena Gomez - Rare
29

selena’s third album, rare is an okay album with just fine tracks, not much new for selena. some lyrics are good and some are a little tasteless along with the production. the opener ‘rare’ the title track, is a just okay pop song. it’s whatever, honestly i don’t give a fuck about this. i listened to it twice and still it’s just okay at best. other notable songs are ‘ring’ (which is the best track on the album) and ‘vulnerable’ (even ... read more

Halsey - Manic
48

halsey’s third album is pretty boring. that’s it, all of it. it’s just a pretty boring album. i did like her past albums like hopeless fountain kingdom as it was very cute pop and the badlands album which was pretty wacky but manic is just boring. like it’s not even bad it’s just boring, pretty disappointed but i know halsey could do better.

best tracks: ashley, clementine, finally // beautiful stranger, 3am
worst track: graveyard

Tame Impala - Currents
85

currents is a nostalgic trip of acid, it’s pristine & sharp while also being relaxed & calming. the synth pop heavy production paired with the creativity of tame impala shows something not new but polished for the genre. snazzier grooves like the moment, eventually and past life encapsulate dreamy, synth-y and sometimes even punchy production in a polished bow that tame put on it, the first track sounds like a longing for something more, where the chords repeat themselves but ... read more

Kesha - High Road
83

a little late to this album. when rainbow by kesha released it was very monumental in her discography, in her long battle against the producer dr. luke she had stopped releasing music for a good 3 or so years. by 2017 she released praying a powerful ballad along with some other pretty fun songs like woman and learn to let go. this new direction kesha is taking seems like what she’s been wanting to do for the longest time and honestly i love it. it’s a mix between her party girl, ... read more

Tinashe - Songs For You
80

honestly a really solid new piece of work by tinashe - after her previous two album mixtape things that didnt really do much for me im happy that she left the label that she was with before. the album starts of with this ode to 2000's rnb hits mixed with modern day rnb.

best tracks: feelings, stormy weather, life's too short, link up, die a little bit, story of us, hopscotch
worst track: perfect crime

yeah i'll have whatever this bitch is having. slayyyter comes through with a insane electropop record inspired by late 90's to early 2000's music but its extra futuristic.

best tracks: mine, alone, candy, motorcycle, celebrity, ur man, ghosttt
worst track: tattoo

100 gecs - 1000 gecs
84

an aggressive approach to pop - i love it, 100 gecs really knocked it out of the park with this 25 minute (or so) album. its fast paced and punches you in the face with every track you come across. 'money machine' is such a catchy and loud song while '800db cloud' is this somber, heavy industrial track - they even do these screeches to the back end of the track, 'ringtone' is a cute song, gets more aggressive as you go along.

best tracks: 800db cloud, ringtone, money machine, 745 sticky, ... read more

LIM KIM - Generasian
76

i haven't heard of lim kim until anthony fantano reviewed it on his channel (it even got #6 in his best ep of the year list) and i had to say i was thoroughly surprised by the rich production on this ep. the track 'mong' is so elegant and beautiful while the track 'yellow' is so rough and aggressive sounding, i really like this ep.

best tracks: minjokyo (entrance), yellow, mong
worst track: minjokyo (exit)

Dorian Electra - Flamboyant
82

a really great example of hyper-futuristic pop that is shaping the late 2010's and hopefully the rest of time. dorian pushes boundaries on this album with his amazing vocals and flamboyant personality portrayed on his singing and songwriting - i thank my fellow gays for this great record, the lesbians like this album.

best tracks: career boy, musical genius, adam & steve, emasculate, man to man, guyliner
worst track: flamboyant

FKA twigs - MAGDALENE
91

track by track review of magdelene:

fka twigs has been mia for like 4 years now and ive been thirsting for some new music. Back in 2016 or 2017 she had performed a couple of new tracks at a festival somewhere in a nice place i bet, i heard that she was set to release a ep or album named radiate me 2, i didnt read much into it but i saw the live performances and the song 'yes yes yes' was so good i wish it had a studio version for me to play on the go. she had experienced a pretty difficult ... read more

Caroline Polachek - Pang

best songs: pang, caroline shut up, door, parachute, insomnia, ocean of tears, hit me where it hurts, so hot you're hurting my feelings

Kanye West - JESUS IS KING

meh

best songs: selah, follow god, every hour

MARINA - FROOT
74

a great third album from marina and the diamonds. a more organic sound from her previous electro pop album that felt a little brash and definitely didn’t age well. froot on the other hand sounds melodramatic and whimsical. from sorrow openings to the sweetest of songs, froot is a great pop album. songs like immortal and savages are pretty big misses on the album, they are boring and way to long. songs like froot keep it interesting from start to finish and have more upbeat textures to the ... read more

slowthai - Nothing Great About Britain
71

the debut record by slowthai is enchanting, mischievous and dramatic all in a good way.

best tracks: nothing great about britain, doorman, crack, inglorious, missing, northampton
worse track: toaster

71/100

Clairo - Immunity
62

an interesting album that passed me. it was absolutely worth a listen but it has alot of faults, some of the tracks feel a little boring and i could barely remember what the track 'closer to you' sounds like until i actually give it another listen. other than that its a great indie pop record.

best tracks: alewife, bags, sinking, north
worse track: closer to you
