When a celebrity dies, their life is often celebrated and memorialized through posthumous releases and merchandising.
Figures like Kurt Cobain, Jimi Hendrix and Bob Marley only grew in popularity following their deaths. Dying at the peak of your influence automatically makes you more appealing to a mainstream audience because you never had a chance to have a come down. I mean honestly how many people do you see with fucking Bob Marley shirts on, theres so so much merchandise being produced for these fallen icons and often to no profit of the families of those icons. Regardless, figures such as these (those gone too soon from this earth) often have their legacies preserved, not tainted like this.
What is going on here is absolutely despicable and I dont think I can really say much that my boi @exception didnt already say, but I still feel the need to voice my opinion because this is so fucking infuriating. Gone are the days when labels actually tried to put out meaningful music and effect people in a deeper way. Its all about the money now, and not to say that it wasnt before, but any form of class or decency that the mainstream music industry once had is all but gone today. People no longer seem to truly care about one another. Im not the biggest fan of X, but he didnt deserve to be murdered, and he DEFINITELY didnt deserve this bullshit.
