MEDSLAUS EDITION: sLums collective journey: part #4
Hearing records like Earl Sweatshirt's 'Some Rap Songs', MIKE's 'War In My Pen' and even Slauslon Malones 'A Quiet Farwell', built my perception of this abstract NY sound to be very monotone, reflective and dispiriting. EARL SWEATSHIRT EDITION: sLums collective journey: part #2
Earl Sweatshirt has now completely embodied the sLums sound. The shadowy, dusky aesthetic paired with a more blunt execution instead of choppy, persistent jazz samples is definetly more reminiscent. Contrasting this with 'Some Rap Songs', an album where Earl manages to intergrate the sLums aesthetic along with his current sound, 'Feet Of Clay', truly feels like he's part of the collective, and I believe that's why the reception of this ... read more
