full review someday but its just so crazy to me that this album is even real
overall is a slog to get through with occasional highlights, the last three tracks are great though, especially track 20
I wanna quickly say before I start this review that I don't want this to come off as overly hating this album, I actually had a blast listening to it, but;
This is genuinely the worst album I have ever listened to. PBS' voice & delivery is just god awful, and every song has the exact same formula, where he raps about this party lifestyle, having money, fame, and girls. Its the same monotone rapping style in almost every song, except for one where he does this weird singing while ... read more
who would've guessed an ep based on the worst aphex song ends up being the worst ep 🤯
a very nice, warm chillaxed listen; Green isn't trying to be much other than that, and its simplicity gives it this certain charm that is hard to come across
It's gonna be really hard for any artist to drop a follow up album that lives up to expectations after releasing an album as good as In Sides, so I can't blame Orbital too much for this album being a disappointment. This album isn't bad by any means, & some of the tracks are pretty good, like Spare Parts Express; however there isn't too much replayability to this album & most of the songs. All of the detail that goes into this album as a whole doesn't even ... read more
To me, drukQS is the worst Aphex Twin LP by quite a bit. So many of the songs on here lack any real replay value to me, even the supposed "good ones", like Vordhosbn or Meltphace i.e. The structure of this album is quite messy & chaotic, which I can respect to a certain extent, but when a majority of disc 2 is just valueless filler it's pretty inexcusable. I think a BIG majority of this album's praisers kind of view this thing for its highlights and not its full album ... read more
I too love progression-less drone passages that drag on for way too long!
in all seriousness there are some actual valuable moments on this thing but it really is not worth a full album experience of 2.5 hours.
to anyone who wants to make music please dont rely solely on drones to make your atmospheres 😭
Some major highlights on this thing, and for being a compilation album, it is actually quite consistent in the songs themes, even throughout all of the genres that it explores. I think that the biggest issue with this album is how it falls off quite hard after the first half. Still though, quite an interesting listen and felt like it was worth my time.
Luka Troncic is honestly one of the best & most fun Trap projects that I have ever listened to. Of course this album can feel quite bloated, but honestly it only really feels like the album drags towards the very end. Tron's performances are consistently great, with some really funny bars / samples throughout the album, and the features all contribute a good amount to their respective songs. Overall, it wraps up to be a fun mixtape with some really nice highlights here and there. Tron ... read more
It's cool. It has zero progression throughout its hour long runtime though, and if harsh noise is hard for you, then yeah I would not recommend this lmao
Ghost mountain single handedly revives Haunted mound with their best album since Hundred Acre Wrist. Definitely some of the best vocal performances from HM ever on this tape, as well as some really fresh production and creative choices on some of these tracks, really pleasantly surprised with this one. :)
The biggest and most polished achievement the Caretaker name had achieved at the time, and its held up pretty well.
This is like a peak example of a generic boring drone and ambient album
a quite hardcore experience with some actual nice sounding bits throughout. overall its decent, but cant imagine this does much for anybody past its main gimmick of just being absurd. weirdly intrigued me though
40 > 56 edit :
honestly after coming back to this, it has some actual really nice moments that are amazing to listen to, even after the craziness wore off
The way this album ends is incredible. Also just super solid Arcade Fire, very few missed opportunities
I used to think this album was near perfect except for Greenways Trajectory, but I've grown to enjoy the song a lot more and it kind of encapsulates the whole feel / meaning of the album. Rawest form of Dn'B I've ever heard and will probably ever hear from a notable artist.
