I’m listening to the reissued version of this album that has 14 tracks, as that’s what the track ratings here have. This is also his first true vocal album as HKE. He gave a hand at it with Dragon Soul, but it was pretty much just to add melody to the instrumental, not like traditional vocals. Here, though, he sings. Bit of a switch up for HKE. Instead of the dreampunk stuff he came up on, on here there's more influences from industrial, emo rap and harder brands of electronic music. This isn't an aggressive record, but it does have some muscle. The first six tracks or so are pretty solid. Ranging from moody tracks like "The Earth is Covered in Blood" to aggressive cuts like "Mantra" to glitchy, soundcloud rap inspired "Silk Demon 0". That track in particular is a ... read more
