bizarre choice of vocals on this album. doesn't match the lush, gorgeous instrumentation whatsoever. really weird sound.
I was already familiar with Ruby Haunt's album The Middle of Nowhere before getting into this one. That album had some great Shoegaze and Dream Pop tracks and was really moody, reflecting the nocturnal quality of it's album cover. I was hoping this would do the same, but instead go for a more nostalgic and spring/summer themed sound. The instrumentals on this are absolutely stellar, crafing a cozy and intricate folky environment. The vocals are... not good. I think if this was re-recorded with the vocal style done in a different way this could easily be an album that sticks with me, but as it is it's not something that sticks with me very long. It's like I went into the woods with John Mayer and he lost his voice.
